  • Loved Steve’s demonstration on how chalk on a cushion can cause a β€˜big bounce’; hits the cueball into the black cushion in a spot that’s not been daubed with chalk, and the cueball rebounds 12 inches. Does the same again on the chalk mark and the ball ends up in the baulk end. Steve looks smug having proved his theory.

Of course the fact he hit the cueball twice as hard on the second occasion had nothing at all to do with it πŸ˜†

    • Is the lookalike thread still a thing, or would that alert the woke police nowadays?

Anyway, Wu doesn’t half remind me of Stan Laurel πŸ˜†

I ended up sticking with the Selby match. One missed ball in 4th frame the difference between a shellacking and a loss. I must admit is expected Jack to choke but he seems a changed man and played high quality, resilient, match play snooker last night.

I expected Si to breeze through his match as well. Clearly Match predictions are not my strong point.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised with his performance yesterday, 3-1 down then 5-1 up against Selby, well played Jack. πŸ‘ He's got Carter next round, I'd expect him to get through that one, but we'll see, this is Jack after all.

Not sure but sounds like Bingo.

Dom Dale better value on Disco+ IMO.

Thanks, fatfreddy. Confirmed as John just called him Stuart.

                  • Maguire at his worst once again, first thing he needs to do before shopping for yet another cue is lose weight. He was at his best when younger, slimmer and fitter but slimmer and fitter didn't last very long.

Wu last night saved by some good running at the end, the kind of match that enhances ones career when won with a strong finish and a fluke doesn't do that but hey, they both know each other very well and that killer instinct probably wasn't present and the balls only ran well for either one of them when Si made his ton.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

I'd like to see Alan McManus grill Maguire in his post match interview, the way he did with Luka after his exit from the Northern Ireland Open. Somehow, I doubt McManus would adopt quite the same attitude.

Just in case you're wondering what I mean, here is the McManus / Brecel interview.

Nah, because he knows the score and he'd get one punched dropped on the spot. πŸ˜‚ That would be too much for a fellow Scot to ask for Glasgow kiss.

                            • Holt V Wilson will get my interest but reckon Jak Jones will boss Luca based on recent form, hope I'm wrong but see nothing to suggest otherwise sadly.

I like Holt, don't really want to watch him getting stuffed by Kyren, but I'll keep one eye on it, just in case. Maybe we'll catch Luca in the mood tonight, you never know.
