  • This is my first time watching Robertson playing slowly, can't really believe it's the right style for him. He never faired well when he got bogged down trying to play Selby at his own game so I'm surprised he's going down this route.

For me he always looks his best when he's flowing and strutting confidently around the table.

    • Just tuning in - what was the "disruption" in the Trump/Robertson game they mentioned?

      • Someone in the audience fell ill I think!

Someone in the audience taking ill.

So far Robertson's controlling this match - which doesn't exactly make it great viewing.

I wish I could say you've missed some exciting snooker, but Robertson is playing like Mark Allen does. Apparently he's gone online saying the game in this era has changed and now it's more about trying to stop your opponent scoring rather than getting in and creating a chance....

What a great future the viewing public have if they all start adopting this......

+1 on that. Was hoping the Trump- Robertson match wouldn't get bogged down like their last two encounters but 50mins on Frame 2...not great viewing.

              • Ah, thank guys. Assumed it was some Just Stop Oil or Gaza or likewise political thing from the way they were talking about it. This "audience member taken ill" does seem to be happening a lot more often at the snooker (and even the football) than it ever did before. Which was like zero times. Very odd.

Yeah, I can't watch Allen now he's permanently in first-gear only. Hope Robbo doesn't go the same way. I'm the total opposite on the table - not that anyone would pay to watch - if my opponent is super-fast, it really throws me off my stride and is hard to deal with.

I've just tuned out, I'm not supporting viewing figures for that tosh.

That's because it's the same people watching now who were watching 20/30 years ago. Whole audience will need wheeling in in another 10 years.

Hopefully Trump stomps all over Neil and his borefest. It's not even being cautious, it's purposely playing slow to get under Judd's skin. He did it last time they played as well

Quite literally was like watching the death of snooker!! 💤 😴

It's occurred to me that if this trend of play catches on, snooker will become as Billiards did, unwatchable. Silly me though, I forgot it's all about winning isn't it!! Well enjoy your wins guys when no one's watching and the prize money is £25 with a 5 quid plastic trophy. 👏👏

That simply not true - there's plenty of young people in the audience.

Are they there with Dads and Grandads, Nans etc though or do you feel there is a genuine younger audience who love snooker because "they" love it?? Interested to know what you feel. Cheers.

There was an article in time magazine a couple of years ago that said over 75% of snooker audiences in the UK are over 50. Audiences in the 80s and 90s were considerably younger on average from my experience, probably the majority in their 30s and 40s. Same goes for players in my club, most people are 40+ now, whereas when I was in my 20s so were alot of others in the club. It's alot of the same faces from years ago, and not many kids anymore.
