Any prize money they make up to £25,00 has to be given back. all money made above that they keep. If they dont make £25k in a year they don't have to pay it back. ensures everyone earns a minimum £25k plus sponsorship each year!
I thought it was 20k GBP. Was it increased for this season?

I thought it was 20, maybe inflation rise. Definitely needed.

It did use to be 20 but I'm sure I heard somewhere they upped it to 25k for this season. I could be wrong!

So if a player wins 24k in a season thats a total of 49k, but if a player wins 26k in a season thats a total of 26k ?

No, the person winning 24k wins 'net' 25k while the 26k winner gets exactly that.

They have to repay all winnings until the 25k is paid back, if they don't make 25k any remainder of the loan is written off.

            Hope that makes sense!

So the 25k is simply minmum wage and going above that sum means an earnings performance bonus + ranking points.
I would expect in this scenario that all winnings are paid directly to world snooker until the 25k ceiling has been breached.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

For the youngsters who can fall back on the bank of Mum and Dad that’s not bad. But for the older blokes with a wife, 2.3 kids and a mortgage it’s not really a living wage. Guess the Mrs has to bring in a decent wedge.

Thats pretty much it! Not sure if winnings are paid automatically or its the players responsibility. I also wonder if most of the top players forgo this on the basis that they know they will make 25k easily?

Thats why the older ones tend to quit when they drop out of the top 64 and don't get straight back in. Top 64 are 'made men' where they will be getting pretty much £45k a year plus sponsorship and exibition fees etc.

65 and below in the rankings tend to be hungry youngsters, backed up as you say, by the bank of mum and dad if it takes them a few years, or, ex top-16 who have already made enough money to fund their love of competition!

Are exhibition fees part of the contract for the 25k loan or is it simply tournament winnings that are taken into consideration ?

I think it is purely WST earnings, the wording of the offer when launched infers tour earnings to me
