Great result for the young Welsh lad Liam Davies, beating McGill 4-3, with some decent scoring along the way. He's got Elliot Slessor in the main event, would be nice to see him have a good run.

    The fast and the furious,
    The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

I’m watching Jimmy White V Scott Donaldson. Scott is hobbling around the table. Seems to have a problem with his leg.

Main competition has started and can be watched on various - but to remind some, BBC Wales, BBC iPlayer and BBC Red Button channels are also showing the matches.

So I’m watching this on BBC Wales and we have Doherty, Virgo, Taylor, and Murphy commenting. Why then is it generally considered the BBC only cover three tournaments - the ‘big three’ as they’re known?

Stan has had more than enough chances to beat Allen here, he’s choked unfortunately
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

Me also I always mention it when people discuss the lack of snooker on BBC
I assume because it is not on BBC 1 and 2 but BBC Wales! the country-bumpkin 2nd cousin

Yeah the BBC have covered the Welsh Open for many a year now, pretty much since the old Grand Prix left our terrestrial screens\!

Do the refs get disciplined for incorrect decisions? That free-ball awarded to Ma Hailong was outrageous! The fact he had to ask the ref in the first place was a red flag.

Oh, I know that. It’s something I’ve always wondered - just never bothered asking before.
