One of the players that I found incredibly slow and infuriating to watch was Rex Williams.

With regards to today's players I would also agree that Rory McCloud is one of the slowest..

I'd have to back Rory in this category as well. His match with Greene at this year's World qualifiers was gruelling, ditto that against Hicks the year before.

I have to say Rex Williams, Eddie Charlton and Cliff Thorburn. They were the three slowest I seen and of the three I would say Rex was the slowest followed by Eddie and Cliff.

Wasnt Robbie Foldivari supposed to be the slowest of slow, held the record for the longest frame and longest match ect......though Neil Robertson must surely be up there for the five minutes or so he took in the WC final just to play a basic safety.

Fred Davis was quite slow. Steve Davis is often very slow but does change his tempo quite often depending on the way the games going.

I just find Ebdon very very painful to watch. Even when hes in and around the black spot he's slow. His brain clearly doesnt read the game as quickly as his fellow professionals but I cant help feeling hes deliberately slow in many games to break the rythym of a quick opponent. Nothing to break the rules of the game but its bad sportsmanship! He's one of the main reasons I'd like to see the shot clock brought into a lot more tournaments.

This is true of Ebdon but so is the opposite, I've seen him make very crazy aggressive shots like instead of the old rolling up behind a baulk colour to play safe he'll hit the object colour full whack into the pack of reds scattering them everywhere and on more than one occasion i've seen him play this type of shot with hardly any contemplation at all, and when in the balls compiling a break he moves relatively quickly so what was a 40 second average shot time becomes halved over a frame. He's hard one to read that one, but on average not yer slowest player. I find him interesting to watch but i know this is a contraversial view.

I would never had said Fred Davis was slow. Still say the in his day, Terry Griffiths was the slowest of them all.

There used to be a lot more competition for snookers slowest player when guys like Robbie Foldvari, Mario Morra, Ian Williamson, Jack Fitzmaurice, Clive Everton and Steve Duggan were around, luckily for TV fans they rarely if ever in some cases, made it to the TV stages.

Must agree, Eddie Charlton. Watch Eddie and Robbie Foldvari play in the late 80's at Tattersalls took 65min to play 1 frame. I'm glad I walked out because I would have missed seeing Willie Thorne make his 62nd maximum.

I can't understand why Peter Ebdon has been labelled as "slow"???
He is as quick and flowing as most pro's on tour (when playing well) and in my opinion very interesting and exciting to watch.

Hawkins is not a player I enjoy watching much either, though part of that is cos he tends to have a negative shot selection, don't think he's particularly quick either though.

But would have to say its Rory McLeod overall.

He's now dropped off the tour but Paul Davies was one of the very slowest. You could almost gaurantee that his match would be the last to finish!
