I just cant believe what i have just seen on Eurosport! I knew Trump is the best player in the world these days (sorry Ronnie) but what he just did was unbelievable. 74 points down to Higginson and with just 4 reds left (58 possible on the table) which is no less than 4 four point snookers, he recovers them with the aid being able to take the pink as a extra red after Higginsons last foul and Judd proceeded to clean up winning on the black with 75 clearance! Phenomenal Snooker and one the greatest single frames of the sport i have EVER seen and i have been watching since the early 80's!
          Hats off to Mr Trump"

Sorry if this has been asked before, but having browsed through the previous pages I couldn't see mention of it....

How does the prize money work with regard to the wild cards? For example, having won his last 48 qualifying match last year, Sam Baird was technically through to the last 32 and due to pick up £6,000. But then courtesy of playing a wild card he's only in the last 40, and as it transpired, out at that stage, i.e before the last 32 money.

So would he get the £6,000 amount, the last 48 amount of £2,300 (surely not as he won that match!) or what?!

And if he does pocket the 6K, what about his conqueror, Jin Long? Do World Snooker have to pay an extra £6,000 to him - which of course has now gone up to £7,500 now that he's through to the last 16. I read somewhere that Wild Cards don't get paid for the prelim round they play, but presumably if they're victorious they get in amongst the lolly...

It is the old are they amateurs debate which if they get paid for playing the game they aren't amateurs they are semi pros Golf Amateurs only get their expenses they get no prize money

Looks like I missed an interesting afternoon's snooker.

This tournament's not come at a good time for me, and I'm not going to get to watch very little of it unfortunately. I won't even be able to watch Saturday or Sunday, so it'll be live scores and TSF, whenever I get the chance. But thanks for the posts people, it's great being able to get a sense of what's been going on.

I'm surprised he even bothered TBH, I didn't see him as 'that sort of player' if you see what I mean. Hope someone puts it up on youtube, I'd like to see that one. Which frame was it?

Don't take it as fact, but I'm pretty sure the wildcards don't get any money in any circumstances, even if they should win the tournament. Ding didn't get any when he won the China Open in 2005.

On the other hand, the qualifiers are treated as if they lost in the 1st round proper, getting the full prize money and ranking points. The only thing they lose of course, is the chance to go further in the tournament.

That's the procedure for what I've understood.
