On the other hand, the qualifiers are treated as if they lost in the 1st round proper, getting the full prize money and ranking points. The only thing they lose of course, is the chance to go further in the tournament.
That's very interesting to know. I'm glad Sam Baird got his full £6,000 in any event, it would have been plain old wrong if it'd had got downgraded....

The 2nd frame. I should point out Trumps 75 were made in more than one visit- first he took 3 of the 4 remaining reds then got his snookers and then took a pink as extra red after potting the last red then cleared to win 75-74 after Higginson opened with a 74 break. All this in just 13 mins, amazing stuff.

If I were a ref out there, I'd be afraid to move around Would opt to stay put and guestimate what fouls were being committed...

As there were 5 reds on the table, and thereby 67 points on, and he started from a sitter, I don´t find it that amazing. So absolutely a great break, but unbelieveable no. He "only" needed two snookers and when Higginson left a free ball it was suddenly quite easy.

I remember seeing Ebdon gaining 4 snookers on Stephen Hendry a few years ago coming from 75 - 0 down with 4 red balls on the table.

So, mark King 4 - 1 up on MJW, although I thought King was very careless with several shots on the colours, and a tad lucky to take that last frame.

And what's with the glove?? Is it for some medical reason or just the usual, anyone know?

I didn't really see this coming. Williams had been very mediocre in the previous couple of events, but not to get anything out of Germany and China... Even when he was struggling and dropped down the rankings, he still produced decent snooker in these "foreign" events, but not this time... Although he already reached two ranking finals outside of the UK this season, so maybe that was it from him.

On top of all that, he didn't get a result in Wales either.

Now let's see if Mark Selby can survive.

Probably because of humidity. His hand were probably sweating. On top of that he played like an amateur. MJW has been very disappointing since the Shanghai Masters. Those loses from being well ahead must have affected him.

I gotta say even thou im a Massive fan of Mark's he Played Terrible and didnt seem interested at all and Played alot of Shots that even a Amateur wouldnt have played!
You cannot say he lost that match because of the Humidity as Mark King and everybody else in the Tournament has same Conditions to deal with. I noticed Mark with Glove on but why didnt he do what Mark King kept doing wiping his hands and Cue!

Not impressed the way williams played today no care in the World which you cannot do when your no2 in the World!

                          Gaz.

Nothing extraordinary IMO....as other said before he started with a sitter and had plenty of luck when lying the snooker. He wanted to place the cue ball behind the black, didnt managed that, but the red hit the yellow and stayed behind it. After Higginson missed and left a free ball it was easy work for Trump.

He is a good player but he is far from being the best player these days.
