I suppose it's because he's an experienced professional broadcaster. I know he's not brilliant, snooker knowledge wise, but just sticking a mike in the hand of any ex-pro or amateur would be even worse. Broadcasting is actually a skill all of it's own, and most people can't just turn up and perform on cue (excuse the pun) without training and experience. Just look at how poor some of the BBCs and Eurosport's ex-pro's are in the box, nuf said.

I'm sure he'll get better in time, as he becomes more experienced with snooker commentary.

As I've said before, you must also take into account the fact that we subscribers are only paying £3 a month, so you're not going to get Stephen Hendry for that sort of wedge are you!

I don't think any ex pro's are bad tbh,Hendon stifles Hallett imo,Mike Smith is cake but he sounds less pretentious at least than Hendon.It probably comes down to the level of play of a viewer,to all accounts C Everton is a top bloke but I find him a bit Captain Aftermath.
As for sticking a mike in the hand of any ex pro in Eurosports case its probably more them not really knowing much on what they're doing, Thorne Taylor and Virgo have been in the woodwork for donkeys years,not that I mind them though they're all class imo but each to their own :-)
