I will have to respectfully disagree on Clive everton. I found his commentary valueless for the most part, he describes what has already happened and has no predictive commentary whatsoever. He says things like "played it in such a way that he didnt leave anything on id he missed" AFTER the event. He can't describe alternate shots or analyse why a player missed because his technical knowledge isn't there. He seems a nice guy but I prefer the other commentators.

But Hendon and Yates still draw paycheque's for the same thing or even less :-)

Yes, you're right armstm, Clive didn't often attempt to explain why a player had missed and yes, perhaps his technical knowledge wasn't as extensive as some but he brought gravitas to the commentary in his dignified, quiet way. I recall once many years ago in a final when Jimmy White was falling badly behind to Stephen Hendry, Everton stated matter-of-factly 'Something prodigious required from White' which was all he needed to say.

The one positive with the commentators is that because they are constantly talking you can easily gather the way the match is planning out, for example if you miss the first 4 frames or whatever as soon as you switch it on they will tell you what has happened :L

Anyone who plays already knows what breakbuilding options are available or why someone misses a shot.

It's video, not radio. There's no reason to discuss every shot. They just like to hear themselves ramble.
