I cant remember where but Ronnie said in one interview that Jimmy white had a great idea.

The person who gets the most 147's in a calendar year gets a large prize. Probably £147,000

that can't happen as the £147,000 is some kind of an insurance deal, you won't find a sponsor that will cough up £147,000 just for the 147 prize year in year out, the reason they took away the £147,000 from the WC is because the insurance premium is getting to much to worth paying for... so who's going to cough up £147,000 when it's "guaranteed" that it will be paid out every year? What's the prestige when you know someone's getting it every year?

SWSA can't afford a large prize for PTC2, they haven't even got the beans (pun intended) to pay for coffees for the players. If Hearn and Co. stopped fleecing them, maybe the organisers could offer more, but I doubt WS would go for that. They're hardly getting Crucible size crowds are they? They don't make any money out of the PTCs they hold and SWSA itself runs at a loss, and it's a charity I believe. And they only charge £10 a day.

In the grand scheme of things 147,000 pounds isn't that much, and for that it's likely the sponsor would get mentioned at every event. It actually seems quite cheap.

Where are these sponsors tripping over themselves to cough up 147k then?

This was an idea put forward by ROS. Do you expect sponsors to be "tripping over themselves to cough up 147k then" based on a passing comment by Ronnie?

Also the 147 prize for the 2012 WC was 50k (40k + 10k HB). That's a third of what this idea would need alone.

Maybe a Chinese Company could sponsor it. If every player in the hat makes just one 147, the fastest wins, so ROS can have his dosh either way.
