The talk is that thenrankings will be based on prize money, cif this is the case the only fair way is everyone starting from round 1, top 16 or 32 should be seeded by seperation but other than that everyone should be in same boat.

I actually wouldnt mind this line-up, it contains some of my favourite players!! Says a lot about me I suppose!

Seriously though, this line up could also easily happen now, but for the fact that most of them are no longer good enough to reach a quarter final. Extending the size of the field isn't going to change that. As mentioned before, the cream will rise to the top, and this is the fairest way of finding that cream!

Just look at the rankings, there is a HUGE gap between 64 and 65, this is because of the protective system we have currently.

To be honest i think it should have happened years ago. When the rankings change to a money list and everyone enters the tournaments at the same stage then there will be no need for the players to enter every event so there will be no burnout! Players can pick and choose their events knowing that wheverevr they are in the rankings wont matter. The rankings will just determine who are the biggest earners in the game. Just look at the current rankings now. Ronnie O sullivan has only played one match all season and he is still ranked about 20 odd. How can that be right? Think this is the kick start the game needs. Gives the young and new professionals chance to make a name for themselves and the game to expand with more money coming in. Yes, maybe unfair to those already in the top 16 but if they are the top 16 in the world then they should make the final stages of enough events to make decent money.

Actually, if the rankings were to move to a money list today, Ronnie would be ranked number 3 so clearly there are also some flaws in that system too. I agree with your general point however!.

The prize money list was announced 4 months ago,its like they didn't have the confidence to announce flat 128's at the same time but thats just conjecture of course...
I read an idea where they should keep the top 16 for the worlds as an incentive for players to climb the rankings, but that seems a bit lame as the extra prize money in the worlds is enough incentive in itself.
