Selby is through. Nice recovery from 3-0.

      Phew . . . Selby wins 5 - 4.

Happy with that. I thought he was in big trouble with Burns playing so well.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
      I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

I enjoyed Murphy's commentary, yesterday I heard that the cue he was previosly using was 100 years old could it possibily be true?

More like 80/90 years as it was a Tom Newman 1370 cue by Morcues of London, circa 1924-1930.
Big shame as it broke not that long ago and Shaun is playing with a different cue - which we (i.e. us on TSF) have not heard any details of yet.
The sorry behind the old cue is that Shaun needed a cue for a competition and his father went into Rodney Hinde's place and bought this cue for Shaun's 15th birthday. The cue was also said to have been used by Ray Reardon in the 60/70s.

Well he said pretty much everything about his new cue during the commentary, John Parris Ash with Ebony butt (pretty simple design as he said) 58 length 9mm tip plus other specs (like butt weight) I don't remember

thanks for that, not been watching much due to timing and with sportlemon the commentary is very low volume and difficult to hear
is sportlemon broadcasting the same commentary? Murphy and Foldavi?

i agree with comments here it is really dissapointing lot of top players are not coming this year for fans want to see them. i think the tournament needs to be moved closer to the melbourne cbd or in sydney cbd. bendigo long way from melbourne cbd

thanks a lot!! I didn't know the story, must have been quite a feeling to hold such a historical piece these days and thinking it was still doing the job perfectly for him.

i remember him saying its just under 9mm which i was surprised, but he went on to say it gives him more spin, however he needs to cue very smoothly which we all know he does, with a tip under 9mm he would have to otherwise it could go spectacularly wrong.

Geez, Davis was lucky to get through. Both players had their chances in the decider and missed and snookered each other and finally Davis took advantage of a safety shot error.
