  • Nice comeback from Ebdon, two big breaks to level at 3-3. The way he lost the 3rd frame must have been hard to take, and Robertson made a century in the next frame to make it even worse, but Ebdon is still as focused and determined as before. Can he take control of the match?

He was praising Stamford ferrules in an interview last year I think!!!

LOL, I remember that, he shouted 'vegan power', much to the amusement of the audience.
Its strange he's gone back to this stamford cue because in the 2nd half of last season and beginning of this he was back using his old maple cue. I guess like so many players they are all looking for something to help them find a little bit of form or consistency so changing cue is as good as anything I suppose.

Cheers cueman. I couldn't for the life of me remember exactly what he shouted.
On reading the link that billabong posted, I'm surprised nothing more has been mentioned about the clash of colour. I immediately associate a black coloured ferrule with one of Mikes cues!! I'm no lawyer but surely there is a copyright issue here!!!
You may defeat me but I will fight you to the very end!!!!

As far as I'm aware stamford have issued a 2nd version of their zenith (black) ferrule which has a thin silver collar at the bottom.

Not if he keeps making these weird shot choices...

The colour cannot be copyrighted - by anyone - there have been coloured fibre ferrules for years, especially in the US and Japan. But MW's Blackspin has an integral component that is inside the shaft, where most "fibre" ferrules are a ring around the outside of the shaft (as per the definition of ferrule). Even MW's concept is actually not new, maybe in design/materials but not concept, as a US cue maker has a similar "ferrule".
              Up the TSF! :snooker:

              • Ebdon takes the lead, 4 - 3. Robertson starting to look a bit out of sorts as well.

                • Robertson all over the place in that frame, missing a fairly simple red to the baulk pocket, then snookering himself on the reds on his next scoring chance, and finally missing another tricky one after a poor cannon. Couldn't even get the pink after putting Ebdon under pressure in going for snookers. Can he recover?

                      Cheers Dean,

                      Nicely explained mate, thanks.

Yes, an 80+ in the 8th leaves Robertson needing all 3 of the remaining frames, not at all beyond him of course, but he'll have to go up a gear or 2. And he's in amongst them right now...

                        • I'm a couple of frames behind but just seen Ebdon complete a total clearance of 134. Wow. This is the Ebdon of old. Fast fluid break building. People forget what a good player he was/still is.

                          • Never underestimate the Ebdonator! I'm really enjoying this match. Would be a shock to see Robertdon lose. Vegan power!

Never understood why Ebdon turned into the player he is now. Was it a conscious decision to turn into a grinder? When he burst onto the scene with that win against Davis in the Worlds he was really fast and attacking.
