He does seem a nice lad, reminds me a lot of Paul Hunter with that accent and the way he comes across. Nice to see these rookies given a chance to show what they can do. Like in so many sports there is a lot of talent outside the professional game that could compete but never get the chance, can only do wonders for the game.

Also just picking up on a discussion on here a few weeks back about the chinese and how according to some will go on and dominate the game. What I think this shows is there is plenty of depth to players in the UK too, its just they don't get the exposure or chances that the chinese youngsters have so personally I think its a bit naive to think that we won't see top players developed here.

    • As has already been said, the UK is supposed to be one of the big majors and we seem to have less TV coverage than a PTC, British Eurosport starts later at the same time as BBC, but there are 4 matches going on now and nothing anywhere that I can find
      Lets see what happens later.
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

      • Very poor really and all it is doing is showing that we don't see snooker as a big sport anymore. Sponsors aren't going to be willing to back events if they don't get any TV exposure so really Hearn needs to get a broadcaster onside who is willing to give it the airtime it deserves.

Otherwise we may as well give up on it in this country and let others who value the sport show it in their countries.

I want to see more snooker too. Still, many of the big name players (ROS, Robertson, Selby and Ding) only play their first match today. Perhaps this is why they are only starting coverage today.

Ratings are important (especially for sponsors) and maybe earlier matches would not have rated well is their thinking.

It is a shame that the don't show all the snooker played during the tournament.

I know I would watch it or stream it or record it.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
          I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Is it only the age/experience factor? Does he have a coach?
He's going through a bad run of the balls at the moment, getting a lot of kicks and bad luck and it's getting to him and he's losing his cool.

Yeah, that is poor. It makes the tournament looks poor. This is supposed to be the second major.

I have feeling that ROS wont be out until the Hawkins game is finished on the other TV-table.

                    • Wasn't the reason for slashing the number of frames at the UK "Because TV wanted to show the whole tournament"? If they're not doing that, can we have the frames back, please?

                          • BBC Coverage of the UK Championships is diabolical. Two TV tables but only showing Ronnie's match. Red button coverage is showing final score football, wtf. Come on BBC, where are you spending my licence fee??? Why don't you have another live uninterrupted stream for the other table? Shambles!!!

                              • Yes and as you know I had a lot to say on that thread. I stick by all iv ever said on this forum since being active in march.
Yes we have talent here and yes i would love us to remain a force in the future, but I do see a wave of really strong hunger players there, and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.
