I haven't seen much of Walden this week, unfortunately. He had great matches against Mark Williams and Ding Junhui, but they weren't televised except for the last frame, rather shockingly. I also didn't see much of his match against Allen, because the other table turned out to be more interesting. Looking at the breaks, Walden has scored the best out of all four semi-finalists and certainly better than Selby. He hasn't been at the business end of major tournaments all that often, but it's not an unfamiliar situation for him either, and his previous performances have been quite good. I think he will probably struggle against Selby tactically, but he does have the firepower and the form to outscore him. He also plays at a weird pace sometimes, ranging from extremely fast to extremely slow, so it will be interesting to see how he handles it if the match goes slow and scrappy.
Selby finds himself at the business end of the UK yet again without playing at his best. He battled through when Castle and Tian put him under pressure in the early rounds, then had two more comfortable wins where he was always in control, and finally that great fightback against Barry Hawkins two days ago... He hasn't really impressed with his fluency, but he still played some good stuff under pressure, going for a couple of all-or-nothing balls and getting them. The thing with him is, he could find a bit of form here and go through, or he could continue on his B-game and still go through. I wouldn't be surprised to see Walden dominating the first part of the match, but we know you are never safe from Selby, no matter what kind of an advantage you have. Like with Robertson yesterday, I expect Selby's class to make the difference in the late hours of the evening, when the pressure is really on. 9-8? Would be nice...

Players like Walden should not play snooker as they just are a bad advert for the game .. trust me I would pot 10 out of 10 times some of the balls he has missed .... shocking standard ..... and this was no decider or anything .. just a frame with nothing riding on it
