Ding will win this. He is too good not to.

I am not sure about that. That is by far the best Trump has played in months. His confidence level has to be very high. I will take my chances with Trump.

I can't see past Ding either, good game for the neutral though!

          • Bet365 has Ding at $1-90 and Trump at $1-90.

CueTracker says they have played 10 times (5 all) and played 84 frames (42 frames all).

            Hmmmm.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
            I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

                • Trump playing very well though . As you can see by the Frame scores .

Stats have it as tight . As said , hopefully be a cracker for the neutral .

                  • here they come

from the walk on, Trump looked confident and relaxed, Ding looked focused and determined.

what a reception from a huge crowd

                        • Should be a good one.

As I've said a couple of times, this is their first major match since that 2011 WC semi-final, and their only other big one was way back in 2005, when they were both still teenagers. I expected this meeting in the Masters, where they were drawn in the same section, but they both lost in the 1st round. And now they meet here, even though they were in opposite halves.

I guess Trump has been the more impressive player this week, "doing an O'Sullivan" and only dropping four frames in five matches so far. His scoring yesterday was top notch, and he was never really in danger of getting sucked into a scrap against Lawler. I think this is his best form since that purple patch in late 2012 when won the International Championship and was runner-up in Shanghai.

Ding perhaps hasn't shown his best stuff this week, but he has raised his B-game to a very impressive level this season, basically winning by default unless someone plays quite well against him. Reminiscent of John Higgins in that respect, and his game is quite similar as well - high scoring, solid safety without any nonsense, and great pressure play. He has been very cool in these situations this season, and that's why he is competing for his fourth ranking title.

If the Masters final was a clash of two extremes, this one is less so, but they still have different styles and different personalities around the table. Trump is an excellent shot-maker and entertainer, while Ding is a terrific stylist and a "professor" around the table. This week's form favours Trump, B-game favours Ding, A-game is impossible to call. Take your pick...

                          • And you showed so much promise with your description of the walk on !

I've sure you can do better than that
