It wasn't so much the shot (although under any circumstances it could never be called a gimme) but the context in which it was played. That red, coupled with position on the black, virtually guaranteed him a 147 in a frame that would win him the title, and it is those factors that made it such an incredible shot.

"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

          • The last frame reminds me of a classic rock song, it's one of the only frames I have ever watched over and over and over lol

            • Can anyone explain the mystery behind this clip? It's the Eurosport broadcast but with the BBC Wales commentary?

              • His game is totally awesome and hopefully he will learn
                some humility along the way.

                  Mystery?
Eurosport purchase the BBC feed, then record their own commentary over that feed and broadcast that combination, I assume that this broadcast someone at Eurosport forgot to add the Eurosport commentary recording
                  Up the TSF! :snooker:

I think the guy who uploaded the youtube vid remixed the bbd audio commentary into it.

I understand Eurosport feed off BBC's coverage, but that won't include the commentary, will it? And remember, Eurosport sometimes show live snooker at the same time as the BBC, so they must have the facility for feeding from picture only.

I did consider that until I asked myself why he would go to such trouble. It would mean synching the BBC audio track with the footage exactly. I don't see how he could lift only the Eurosport commentary track and leave the other audio in place without some very specialised equipment.

He would have stripped out the audio of the Eurosport footage and then replaced the whole lot with the BBC audio. Relatively easy with free windows editing tools.

Why he did it I've no idea.

Out of curiosity I'd quite like to have heard the Eurosport commentary on this.

                          And as if my magic:

Mmm, rather uninspiring commentary in comparison. This is why, despite their faults, the BBC will never be bettered for snooker coverage. Yes, they've scrapped table choice on red button, they leave matches to show repeats of I've Made a Cake on Ice, Get Me Out of Here, but BBC is still the home of snooker in my opinion *

                          * I reserve the right to change my mind when they next **** me off.

                          • Black to red on 56 is the definition of sublime and the reason he is so good.

Red to black on 104 (5:35) isn't bad either

                              • I guess they dubbed the BBC commentary onto the Eurosport feed because the BBC didn't broadcast in HD for this tournament.
