On the actual game show, you get through to the final getting the lowest score possible, and in the final you have to find a pointless answer, eg a 0 score! Eg, name a former world champion that the 100 people didn't get

I went for Malta, but the answers the 'experts' gave were good. Finland and New Zealand especially.

    2014 World Championship - Discussion

i was talking about kicks to a guy at my club, because we hardly get any at all, even using tournament 1g balls which iv heard people blame the kicks on.

He was an older chap and told me that tv tables are too hot, he said years ago when he worked at a club down south somewhere that they were told the perfect temperature for a snooker room is 39 degrees and should be kept like that at all times.

So his view was that tv tables are too hot and this somehow makes kicks more likely, im guessing its due to oils in the cloth from manufacturing and from hands etc.

Sometimes its as simple as scuffs in the cloth though, this i know for sure, i had a horrendous kick in practice and after looking, the ball was resting in a scuff where somebody has played a swerve or screwed back and just taken the top of the nap away.
i replaced the ball on the mark a few times and every time i got a kick, not all as bad as the initial one but i guess it depends exactly where it is sitting and what sort of strike you get in the cue ball, power etc.

I have never played on anything tighter. Blacks off the spot catching where the near pocket started didn't drop. Not just my opinion but all 32 entrants. Michael Wasley was working the bar and he said the tables were playing very difficult.

I think new cloth helps but judging by some of the balls potted it's becoming quite irrefutable to argue that they are tight, the table i play on i wouldn't say it was overly tight it just under 3 and half inches and it wouldn't accept a ball hitting a cushion 6 inches from a pocket.

On another note anybody know why the black pocket leathers seem a shade different in colour? or is is simply because they are camera pockets?

Cheers. So how is determined who is 'right' or the winner if there is no right answer? (am I still not getting it?)

Its modelled on a quiz show where you have to find the most obscure answers to the question asked.

As in the concept of the game? Quite simple really, give the most obscure answer to the question.

The thing is, your opponent can clear off a kick with ease. 7 points does not really make it a good enough consolation.
The only way to neutralize them would be to simply replace the balls and let the player repeat his shot, but again, not all kicks are that visible to the eye, meaning it would be impossible to keep track of, so, yeah.

As for kicks, no idea. The main table I play on in my club gets brushed and ironed once a week, is never covered so lots of crap under the cushions. The balls are hardly pristine and I can play all Saturday afternoon without one kick happening!
