  • Some of the pots O'Sullivan has got in this match have been amazing. But that blue was just one too many, what a clearance that would have been...

Good...i can understand people try to make excuses for Barry's misses but let's be honest..its the same table and the same balls for Barry and for Ronnie......Barry gets more kicks because his cue action is not that smooth as Ronnie's......

      • Barry surely not unlucky there.

        Nice pot Ronnie.

And another one, a candidate for the shot of the tournament.
Actually, it's been his breakbuilding that has taken a step back at times in this tournament, I'd say. He has struggled with cannon shots in the last two mini sessions, getting stuck past around 40 points multiple times.
          All the way Mark J!!

              • It's tough to do anything against O'Sullivan when you can't keep him out of scoring chances. And you can't if he is potting like that from distance.

If 5-3 was a reasonable target for Hawkins at the start of the session he is already behind in that quest... Needs to win 4-1 in the remaining frames.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But even so his breakbuilding is still on par with Selby's for example, and he always seems to have that extra gear when he needs it, so I don't think it will worry him too much.

That's what makes him a scary player to play against. Even when things seem 'slightly off', he is still one of the best in that department, if not the best already.
To make up for that, his mental approach has been top notch. In my opinion, that's what makes him the favourite at the moment to win it all, above anything else.

                    • Four frames to go, O'Sullivan needs them all to win with a session to spare. Seems unlikely now...

Hawkins needs them all to really get back into the match at 13-11, but that seems even more unlikely. 14-10 is still not an impossible position though, Higgins won against Maguire from that scoreline in 2007...

And Hendry won against White from 8-14 in 1992. Thing is, Barry is not Hendry or Higgins, and Ronnie is not White or Maguire.

                        • I think 2-2 next session, that would be the only shared session so far

                          • Ronnie's safety has been fairly average tbh.

Strangely, the best part of Ronnie's game right now is his long potting. His break building is lacking a bit.

Speaking of which, he just cleared the table!

                              • A very quick century, but it was almost a practice table. Costly mistake again from Hawk.

Every credit to Higgins there. I always saw that comeback more of his success rather than Maguire's failure to close the match out.
