Congratulations to Selby - it wasn't always that attractive but he played superb matchplay snooker and he knocked in some decent breaks towards the end. I still don't find Selby excites me, but I also still don't begrudge him - after he lost to Higgins I felt certain he'd be world champion, then it looked like he'd missed the boat.

Hopefully Ronnie keeps playing though and has other chances to set some records.

This doesn't even deserve a response, but I'll play along regardless. You, alexiy, are a fool, and blatantly far too immature to pass judgement on anyone. Your player lost, fair and square, and you don't even have the balls to stand up and accept it. I pity you.

No but dings still a better player, solid breakbuilder, attacking safeties none of this clipping reds thin to guarantee a safe shot, rolling into the pack constantly.

What an amazing performance in that final session from Mark Selby. I'm so happy for him. Most exciting final we've had since at least 2011 that's for sure.

I hope the Ronnie fans can take their idol as an example and be gracious in defeat, although I fear we will recieve the same old 'Selby is boring' comments.

Whenever I watch Ding at the world championship I am disappointed. He just can't seem to bring his tour form to this torunament.

Ahhhhh I forgot just how much I LOATHE the ending. Selby won the match 10 minutes ago and the program has finished.

In football, tennis, boxing, rugby and cricket (probably the big 5 in the UK), we have a big post-match program, showing the events, talking points, what it means for both sides, an overall review of the game + what comes next and so on. It makes it all look so much better.

What happens in snooker? "Congrats to Selby, now it's time for Hairy Bikers".
