    7-4.

It reminds me of a few times we've seen Marco Fu beat Ronnie. He's not really killing the match like a Selby, he's just quietly playing well and preventing ROS from doing so.

6-4, 65-22.....who would have bet on that score line....Really surprised to see Ronnie so far behind....even if we're just talking about 2 frames.

You just get the feeling that this won't be ROS' day. He just can't take the match by the scruff of the neck. It's like a football match where one team has killed all momentum from the other and they can't get it back.

It makes a difference to see someone having a real good go at Ronnie, he's under a bit of pressure here.

The more they practice the luckier they get.

Great start from O'Sullivan. Hope Perry can do the same.

Osullivan! He is just ridiculously good. Looks to be in the mood from the get go.

People who seem more lucky than others are generally better than others at what they do.

I wish people would stop this debate over luck. No one player is more lucky than the other, it's just random. Certain players like Selby and Trump seem to have had some sort of 'luck' stigma attached to them on this forum, but that's only because they have a lot of haters who don't like it when they do well and notice the run they get more.

I've always thought Judd looks like a more lucky player, but it's in part influenced by his style of play. For example, he hits the balls so hard if he misses in one pockets, it increases the chances of flukes because there's so much momentum left the ball. That 'luck' is more to do with the way he plays than him being flukier than anybody else.

You often find people who call Selby lucky are Ronnie O'Sullivan fans. Or at least fans of attacking play, rather than Selby's strategic thought out approach.

So Ali closes out this session only 9-7 behind, that's not bad (no pun intended). Hopefully Selby can pick up things in their last session and come through in the end.

Now on to the McManus vs Doherty match, which I'm really looking forward to.

Btw @BBC...please bring back our Hazel!

if you watch ronnie's mannerisms when he plays a bad shot, he looks quizzical and then when he sits down he looks up at the ceiling and around with a slightly thoughful look. i think this is his way of saying well yes i missed a shot but this happens and it's not the end of the world. it's his way of putting the miss in perspective. he may have got this routine from steve peters. he rarely looks annoyed.
