To be fair, that was a bit unlucky for Selby to leave a free ball.

I sincerely believe that one can influence (getting/keep getting) back luck by not being of and keeping a positive frame of mind. Of course that is very hard to do, especially when you are having a hard time. But still...the ones (like Selby) who manage it well will ultimately turn their own bad luck around. Keep being negative and your bad run will continue. Only you can influence it.

It really is as simple as that.

I probably think Selby is lucky because I dislike him, and therefore I notice every time he has the run of the ball.

Similarly, I always seem to hit red lights when I am running late for work. Of course, the ratio of hitting red/green traffic lights is doubtless the same as other days, but it never seems like that. Just more conciously aware of them.

Luck is exactly what it is, it comes in two forms, good and bad and I've yet to witness any player have more luck than Selby on the current tour.

I've never really noticed any one player having more good or bad luck than others, take it when it comes your way i reckon.

Ali...you are doing yourself a major disservice! Just play your natural game and stop beating yourself up about a bad run of the ball. You know the old saying...bad luck will even itself out over a periode of time. Keep rolling your eyes, giving your ironic smirk and it will keep biting you in the @ss

Edit : forgot it is first to 13 this round...still a chance for Ali to turn his bad luck around. Come on Selby! An 11-5 scoreline would be nice.

It really annoys when the red button just switches matches with no warning, looks like its Eurosport for me then.

The cue ball was off the table before and as it made contact with the blue there, because of all the top spin and the power. Is that still deemed a kick?

But yeah, Selby has had the run of the ball in the match so far at crucial times.

Add into the fact that the table is playing pretty poorly what with big bounces and some heavy contacts which again have cost Carter more than Selby and its quite understandable why he would show such frustration.

This frame has really hurt Carter, especially losing it because of that kick, time to turn the screw and take these last 2 frames!

Ali carter is a big moaner. He can't control his temperament properly, even Maguire is more mature than him. This is a disgrace when comparing with Neil, Shaun etc

I wish I could like Selby, but for some reason that I am not entirely sure of, I can't stand the guy. I think it is because he has no personality whatsoever, despite his Jester nickname. Also in terms of his snooker, I get no enjoyment from watching him, even when he is knocking in centuries. No style, no flair, nothing. Like I said, nothing against him but watching him just leaves me feeling like the big guy on the front row at the far end......sleepy.
