  • Perry's a lucky boy there. Always the way - leave the red over the pocket but snooker behind the colour. Perry has had the run by far - with the exception of when he potted the pink earlier on.

Very impressive, solid performance for me; even if Ronnie has been giving him chances, he's taken them well and reasonably quickly.
It's interesting because it looks like ROS is going home though. If this was Perry vs Fu with the same standard, I don't think it'd entertain many people.

        • Nothing wrong with how Perry is playing, he is playing the way he knows best to beat the opponent in front of him. He's not doing a Selby where he is turning down shots or trying to slow the play down or generally getting into the head of his opponent, this is just solid match play snooker. The frames have been quick which dispels the myth that he is playing negative or boring snooker.

For me I called it last night to my mate, I could tell from the first frame that Ronnie was gonna lose this. Obviously its still not over but parts of his game have been off since his first round match, his long potting and safety is not up to the same standards he has produced for the last few seasons and I wonder whether this is the start of his decline due to age. Reminds me a lot of how John Higgins is playing this last few years, well off from their normal standard and they don't know how to adapt their game when certain parts are not as strong as they used to be.

          • Perry's dead-straight long pots have been insane.

That has been the main difference between the two and why Perry is ahead, his long game has been very good, Ronnie's has been club standard. 29% long potting for Ronnie is awful.

              • Perry just showed me he does not have the belief in his ability. This is the worst Ronnie could have played and Perry could not put away the balls to go 10-6 up ... Ronnie will switch gears I suspect

                • Phew.

ROS needs a good start tomorrow.

Yeah all this "ROS will get more than 7" is nonsense, really. He might, but it'll be so hard. Higgins dominated from 09-11. By a country mile the best in the world, but then in 2012 he suddenly just stopped.

Not saying that will happen to ROS, but would it surprise anyone if he suddenly dipped? I always felt this year was the one to decide whether it's possible for him to get more than 7.

                  • Still can't call this one. Perry did look like he was feeling the tension in that last frame but still he holds a two frame lead and is playing well.

                    • hoepfully this is a choke sign for perry

let two frames slip this session could have led 11-5. and the obligatory bad session from perry has to come tomorrow

i harly call the years of 09-11 a higgins domination. apart from one or two convinving victories the rest was scrapping throuh and the chokefest of williams and ronnie that got him titles

the whole uk champ 2010 and wc 2011 was a fluke

                            • Hopefully Perry beats Ronnie tomorrow so I can laugh at the excuses some of the ROS fans will make.

                              • How many chances did Perry have in the last frame? Two easy ones in the balls, then the missed black when he was trying to get on the red near the side cushion, then the failed snooker on the yellow... Will it come back to haunt him? O'Sullivan has been known to play a strong morning session...
