The frames have been quick which dispels the myth that he is playing negative or boring snooker.

For me I called it last night to my mate, I could tell from the first frame that Ronnie was gonna lose this. Obviously its still not over but parts of his game have been off since his first round match, his long potting and safety is not up to the same standards he has produced for the last few seasons and I wonder whether this is the start of his decline due to age. Reminds me a lot of how John Higgins is playing this last few years, well off from their normal standard and they don't know how to adapt their game when certain parts are not as strong as they used to be.
Ronnie just isnt focused properly at the moment, nothing to do with age, his long potting and safety was sublime in last years event, so i dont understand where 'this last few years' is coming from. Wouldnt write him off, he will come out tomoro and blow perry off the table, and go on and win the event, comfortably.

Hes not up for it, perry doesnt get his juices flowing, maybe hed be better 10-6 behind going into tomoros session, then he might be up for it, but the toys will stay in the pram, because perry looks like hes gonna choke before he gets to 10.

        • The pressure will be squarely upon Perry tomorrow. I suspect he will crack early and often.

          • It wasn't domination but it isn't a fluke. Higgins at his peak is awfully hard to beat. His safety meant that you got few easy chances and he cleared up when he got his chances. My view is that a peak Higgins usually beats a peak ronnie.

Better than a peak Ronnie?? No way. Hendry, Davis, White all say that Ronnie at his best is the best ever. In my observation, they're right.

              • Shame to see such a poor turn out for Doherty Vs McManus - just another indicator that the game is fast becoming a young man's sport. Here we have two 90s boys battling it out in a match which, for me at least, has a lovely nostalgic air about it, and no one's interested in watching

It's all about Ronnie these days. Once he goes out, the game will have much less interest (at least in the UK). A lot of the young players do not have the consistency to keep generating and living in their hype. Trump could have been more popular if he had been more consistent.

A peak ronnie would beat a peak higgins 18-5, and that wouldnt involve a betting inquiry.

Mick Price could beat Ronnie by the same scoreline in 5 minutes.

I've recorded it. Looking forward to seeing it.

But you can't blame folks wanting to watch Ronnie. He is the superstar of snooker.

I don't, but to me these people aren't true fans of the game. I can't get enough of the sport, regardless of who's playing, and if there were more people like that the game would be in a whole better place.

On the (very) rare occasions I'm anywhere where people are discussing the game, RO is almost always the focus of attention in the discussion. I just want to slap them and say, "You're a bunch of predictable idiots! Go away from me quickly."

God himself would have to come down from above and enter the event in order for osullivan to only reach 5 in a best of 35.

                              • You will get the bunch of predictable idiots who wont watch the event once theyre favourite player goes out....im one of them.......once jim goes out of qualifiers i wouldnt watch another qualifying match, and once ronnie goes out of a major event, i have ZERO interest left in the event. Thats why its so devestating when either/both of them lose.
