An adequate B-game performance from Shaun, with a few glimpses of the old Murphy magic thrown in for good measure. Hard luck to Jamie, he fought well but I think Shawn deserved the win in the end. Very enjoyable match wasn't it.

The first midnight finish of the World Championship for me, I really enjoyed it.
I was concentrating on Maguire's match, very impressive stuff from him from 9-6 down, didn't make a single mistake in the balls until that chance in the decider. He must be livid with himself, because if he played with that kind of composure and concentration all the time he would be the title favourite. But he only found it with his back to the wall here, when he basically couldn't afford another mistake, and it turned out to be too late for him. Two 1st round exits in a row at the Crucible, after doing very little all season... shame.
Great win for Day on the other hand. I think it's fair to say he hasn't played all that well under pressure in the past, but this time he made a great 92 when it mattered the most, and after everything Maguire threw at him. He certainly has the ability to hold his own against Trump in the 2nd round, if he plays him at all of course.
Good to see Murphy through as well, after Perry's struggle earlier today. O'Sullivan has certainly deserved a reasonable draw by being 1st seed, but something like Hull, Burnett, Cope to reach the semi-finals would be a bit too much. I want a couple of good battles between the seeds in that quarter.

Was hoping Jamie Cope could have pushed through the win! Would have been nice to see him get a good run after a good few years of struggling...Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

I hope he takes the positives out of the match and it gives him the confidence to progress in other matches.

He should watch the last couple if frames, listen to the commentary and take it from there.
Qualifying is a positive but I don't think that match was a positive at all.
Seems a nice guy and I know he's not had it easy but things need to change if he is not to be a perennial under-achiever.

I too would have liked to have seen Cope go through. Ah well.
Ryan Day - his table brushing habit bugs me! To me, that's a sign of someone who struggles with concentration. He shouldn't even be seeing harmless little chalk marks on the cloth, let alone constantly brushing them off."Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"
