Well this is why I think refs should be given more power to use their own discretion, problem is they aren't at the moment as everything is done to a rule book which unfortunately some players will look to exploit and time limits is something that I think is needed in the modern game.

Pool had to bring in such a rule because of deliberate slow play from some players and once its there players know so and therefore they get on with the game. Its the same for both players, I think 1 minute is more than enough for any shot in all honesty.

      Yes. So do I.

        • I must admit. I'm slowly starting to like Trump. He's much better to watch then Robbo at the moment and I'm loving the exhibition shots he throws in at the end of a frame. It reminds me of the great days of Jimmy White.

I agree. I honestly hadn't noticed it until it was mentioned. Even now that they have I haven't changed my opinion. The thing is, I'm old enough to remember snooker from a time when the speed Robertson is playing at now, would be considered lighting fast.

            And he's definitely chewing gum.

HA! Hazel, just talking about possible 'needle' between the two players, read out a quote from Trump, "In the past Neil has gone into his shell when under pressure and gone a little tactical when playing me."

How DARE anyone employ tactics when playing snooker?

I desperately want Neil to win this for so many reason, but I fear it's not going to happen. I want him to win for the sake of his 100 100s, because I like watching him play, because I think he deserves it, and because I'm taking an increasing dislike to Trump.

                  LOL. Same here.

Not a single kick since the balls have been changed.

He is a cheat pure and simple, good player but like most aussies they will use any method to win.

Indeed. Maybe a bit too soon to tell, but looking good.

Neil playing tactics, Trump just a bit annoyed, but keeping his composure...for now. Interesting psychological battle going on out there

Judd himself has been more conservative in my opinion. He rarely attempts those dangerous long pots he used to take a lot.

                        • Snooker is a psychological game. It's not supposed to be fast either.
If players like Judd would concentrate on how they themselves are playing, robertson's tactics (if indeed he's employing any) wouldn't get to him.
This is something Ronnie learned, and it's paying off.

The shot clock would kill snooker. It ruined pool, and it certainly would ruin snooker.

Well Neil is one of my favourite players but I'd have to agree that his play at the moment is just too slow. The aim of snooker is to pot the balls and win the frame, not to bore your opponent into submission.

Yup. I've said it earlier, I'm impressed by Judd's snooker and composure in this tournament. He seems to have grown up a bit and applying himself well. Off-table is another thing of course...but I won't get into that now

Still I want Neil to win at least 3-4 more frames this afternoon...I need a close last session tonight.
