Yes. You're right. Robbo just hit a red that landed far jaw and I thought it might drop but it just stayed out.

Having said that. At my club. Unless you hit them fairly clean, they refuse to go in. I bet my club pockets are bigger but with a different cut and pretty worn cloth.

You seem to want a different game where boring the opponent into some form of submission seems to be the order of the day.

Hendry summed it up perfectly yesterday after the first 4 frames when we he said its snooker but not how he knows it. And Doherty and Parrot were also quick to pick up how Robertson was trying to 'put a number on him' as their response to his deliberate slow play against Trump.

Tell me again, what is the game of snooker about, is it skill or is it gamesmanship?
Totally agree.....fortunate there are still a few players who rely on skill and not on gamesmanship ....too bad world number 1 is not one of them.

          Perfect timing.

But seriously, the pockets do seem completely inconsistent. This is the same table as this afternoon, and it's just not playing the same. I can't imagine anything has been changed between the sessions, unless they got sick of all the criticism.

I didn't see much of the afternoon session but I can only assume that as the table was rigged up overnight that it hasn't settled properly and its on a sprung floor which means that the position of the table in the arena could be having a slight effect with the roll down that side of the table. The cushion rubber will still be the same cut, they wouldn't have time to re-rubber a table that quickly and the rubber wouldn't need changing anyway. Only other thing, maybe they have a thicker cloth on the cushion which is making it slighlty tighter, could be to avoid the big bounces which they have done in the past.

            • Just a question: there were two tables until the semi-finals. Is this table (the one they are playing on at the moment) one of the two or is this a third new table?

Interesting... I don't remember seeing any big bounces tonight actually. There was one earlier with Hawkins that left him needing the rest, and for good measure he got a kick on the next shot and missed it.

Anyway, strong frame from Selby. This is an important visit for Robertson now, big difference between 6-2 and 5-3. Not that the match would be anywhere near decided in any case...

                            • Excellent break from Robertson to cut his losses. That was a really great session of snooker, a couple of centuries and lots of good tactical stuff.

This could easily have been the final. But then again, the final might be even better.
