I think it's likely that Ronnie will win but he has never played Selby in a best of 35 before. Selby will have plenty of time to get under Ronnie's skin. :P

This match really should have been the final.

I wanted Robbo to win it all, but either would have been a deserving winner today, the quality was so high, so congratulations to Selby in emerging victorious. He's hoping that he'll be doing the same in two day's time.

Well, that was amazing. :smile: I honestly thought the International Championship final would stand as the best match of the season, in terms of quality and excitement, but you just can't beat a four-session classic like this. :smile:

I don't think Robertson has ever played this well in a big match and lost. But credit to Selby, he was ahead almost all the way and held his nerve brilliantly in the end. I said whoever won this would be second favourite for the final, but I didn't expect Selby to be playing this well... Should be another classic, but it's going to be tough to beat this one as the match of the tournament. :smile:

i got a new respect for selby tonight, i just wish he played that positively for often, i think he would have won alot more!

But im still a big Ronnie fan and hoping he can do it, but i do hope Selby can give us an exciting match and give himself positives to take away from it because he really deserves to be there.

Gutted that Neil didn't win but have to congratulate Mark Selby, that was a superb performance. I honestly don't think anyone else could have lived with Neil's standard over 4 days. What a match!!
Pretty sure Selby will beat Ronnie in the final now.

quick RULE QUESTION guys. When Selby hit the red over the hole, went into the reds and fluked position on the black. What if he had gone into the pack and white stuck right in the pack (with reds all around the white), i mean so he couldn't possibly hit any color. Would it be loss of frame ?

I'd be interested to know this too? I wonder if the white has ever landed tight in the pack surrounded by reds after potting a red? I've certainly never seen it.

I already answered him. It would cause a few giggles and interaction with the crowd, but the rules are quite clear. As I said when I replied:

Why would it be loss of frame? He would just have to make an attempt to hit a colour, to the referee's satisfaction.

It would probably result in him losing the frame as he'd be leaving Robertson with an open table and reds spread everywhere, so if that's what you mean, then yes, he probably would have lost the frame.

To clarify, the referee would take into account the fact that he can't possibly play a colour without hitting a red, but Selby would have to play the white hard enough to reach the nominated ball, as if the offending red(s) wasn't/weren't there.

Ye, odds not in Selbys favour want ronnie to win be have a niggle so put a few quid on Selby if ronnie wins money well spent

There is an open top bus parade though Leicester for my team Leicester City on Monday, its a shame they could'nt wait until Tuesday and Mark could have joined them with his runners up medal.


Seriously though, i would love him to beat Ronnie and he's the only player i ever cheer on against Ronnie, and if he plays like that and Ronnie is not quite on his game (rarely happens) he could pull it off!

Hard to imagine anyone but Ronnie winning, the last couple of years, Carter n Hawkins have played unbelievably well and still lost....

ok, this is it, the day has finally come, not since 2001 has ROS faced a player that will truly stand up to him in a WC final
problem for selby is..
1 robertson match must take its toll at some point
2 ROS FULLY aware of what selby can do, through past encounters
3 ROS now has the mental focus to deal with selby
and for these reasons, i think ROS will come through
