Congratulations to Selby - it wasn't always that attractive but he played superb matchplay snooker and he knocked in some decent breaks towards the end. I still don't find Selby excites me, but I also still don't begrudge him - after he lost to Higgins I felt certain he'd be world champion, then it looked like he'd missed the boat.
Hopefully Ronnie keeps playing though and has other chances to set some records.

Unlike Selby who's had a poor season really, no big titles but two heavy losses in UK and Masters final. His motivation was higher than anyone else and probably was his focus all the way through. Robbo was his toughest opponent in the end and to be honest it was the only top quality snooker in the whole event in that last session.
Hopefully next year we'll see a lot of top players in form because this year the standard was well below what we've come to expect.

Very entertaining match, but the quality of play was really surprisingly low. Lots of exciting safety battles, great to watch how well Selby turns those situations to his advantage. The clearance in the end was awesome.
Well done Mark!
Sad to see what kind of direction these topics take when Ronnie isn't winning.

I think i miss the old Ronnie where he would just take on any shot, play attacking safety be a bit unpredictable and concede frames when you needed like 2 snookers lol though his attitude has improved alot. This match he looked to play a little tight and look lack in the safety exchanges with Selby when he is a way much better safety player than selby.Well done to Selby though,Ronnie beat himself can't believe he only won 4/17 frames when he was 10-5 up and Selby looking dejected.Last edited by vdking114; 5 May 2014, 09:44 PM.
