Ding didn't look tired to me. He just looked as he always looks at the WC - average. I don't know what it is. Shame.

So there's quite a few guys on 1 world title now. I guess the likes of Robertson, Selby, Murphy are all looking at Mark Williams' record. He won 2 + 2 + 2 with the Major's and 18 other ranking events.


I dunno...it wouldn't surprise me if he does return. It's a bit worrying that his decline happened so quickly. It's what I'm fearful of with ROS.

After Murphys disappointing appearance against ROS I very much doubt that he´ll get to 2 + 2+ 2. In 2011 he came to the final having played the best snooker of all just to be viped away by Higgins, and Selby did the same last year. Murphy has the game, but I´m a bit in doubt that he has the mental power. Maybe he should have a talk with dr. Peters (along with Maguire), they both seems to have some confidence trouble when it really matters..

No he's still well into the top 16 in the prize money rankings.

This is nonsense, really. Mark Selby is a damn good player. Sure his tactics/approach definitely aren't everyone's favorite (definitely not mine), but that's not his problem. You don't fluke your way to a WC, Masters x3 and a UK. Plus all the finals he's been in + ranking events won.

Some of the best sports teams/people of all time were damn boring to watch, but entertainment doesn't = talent.

I agree with this. I think Mark would as well. He already admitted that he did not play pretty snooker. But Mark plays to his strengths and his B game is very good. He's exceptional at knocking in a reasonable break and then playing safe making his opponent force an error. It's a strategy that frustrates his opponents and works very well for him.

I also think he's a very talented player and can be a phenomenal potter.

No, it will be based on earnings, so he´ll start well inside top 16. No. 4 I think after Selby, Robbo and Ding. And deserved so.

As it happens I was rooting for Roberston in this year's WC, and was absolutely gutted when he lost. But what else can you do but accept it??

Absolutely delighted for Selby. The only man who truly had the courage to respond to Hendry's call to "step up". And good to see Ronnie coming away from this with such credit as well. Five World titles is still an amazing achievement for him with all the ups and downs throughout his career.

Congratulations to Mark Selby. Always knew one day he would win the World Championship, and as luck has it I had a nice few quid on him at odds of 10/1.

I doubt that will happen any sooner he's won the Welsh Open and Masters beating Ding and Selby this year and just made the world final in which everybody expected to win after being 10-5 up.

Well Higgins had won 3 world titles in 5 years plus a UK + other tournaments. Not saying Ronnie will drop off tomorrow, but it's why I think those who thought he'd beat 7 were going OTT. Even if he won today, that's another 2 years of dominance at best. Williams also dropped off after 2011 (after returning to form). So it can be sudden.
