Best comeback I've ever seen was Dennis Taylor's against Davis in the '85 WC. 8-0 down against the strongest player the world had ever seen at that point. Don't think Selby could have overturned an 8-0 deficit against Ronnie.

Yes, but then he's been doing it for a while, and I think everyone knows what they're up against when they're playing him. Selby has taken over from Higgins as one of the few players who can routinely get past the aura.

Yes that one's up there! I'm afraid it was just before the time I started watching snooker, so I only just missed it back then

Well that's the way things these things tends to work is that other players eventually up there game and eventually bet the main man. I think the Judd in a couple of years time would have beaten Ronnie today.

I believe that was the best snooker final of all time, I'm just a little too young to remember it

That comeback will never be beaten, if you'd written a script for a film to the story of that final then it would have been deemed too unrealistic. I don't think there's ever been a sporting event that's followed a script like that.

It was very tough if you were a Davis fan. It took me a long while to like Dennis after that.

                • Cracking match. I think the best player won, but that was a really gutsy fightback
from a man who looked down and out. Maybe next time Judd.

                  • It was a great Final you have to give Judd Trump a standing ovation he never gave up and i thought
that he would have won the Final Frame.

It would have been a big blow for Ronnie Osullivan to lose the Final Game of the Uk Snooker Champs 2014 after being up nine frames to 4 frames.

Ronnie has now won five Masters five Uk Snooker Champs and also five Worlds Snooker Championships

I love watching Ronnie Osullivan play he is a genius and i do not think there will be another Ronnie Osullivan.

Judd Trump is getting there however he needs to sharpen his safety play and he will win one Day the World Snooker Champion in a few years from now

                    • Lol even Selby congratulated Ronnie on Twitter. Well done, Mark.

I don't think Ronnie would've won another major had he lost. Just like Hendry didn't after losing to Ebdon in 2002.

Yeah I think losing in that way to go with the way he lost to Selby would have been agonising.

                        • Seriously guys ... where have u all been .... if this was a great match for u .. u surely have not seen much snooker or dunno much about it either .... full of schoolboy errors ... terrible quality .... Trump strung together 3 nice breaks because Ronnie could not put away about a dozen chances to win the match at 10-4 and everyone is calling it an epic ... epic is when Higgins used to show who was the daddy ... or the way Selby murdered RoS ... compare that stuff with this n tell me it was an EPIC .... u lot have no clue

Exciting and a bit drama due to sheer lack of quality .. yes indeed ... great match ... nah not even close

Could not agree more ... the scar would have been deadly ... I am glad he limped away probably due to Trump's lack of tactical awareness .... gives us a couple of more years of RoS .. . otherwise I really feared this was it ... I have not seen Ronnie play this bad in a long match ... that was shocking .. missing sitters ... dozens of times ... it was embarrassing at times

ROS played just as bad this time last year. Scraped over the edge in the COC final vs Bingham, then lost to Bingham at the UK. Also had a poor performance vs Joe Perry and Mark Selby at the worlds. Through the middle of that period he destroyed everyone at the Welsh Open and Masters, so there's no long term worry.

Higgins and Selby are (rightly) praised when they win tournaments with their B/C game. Why not ROS?

That being said if he plays like this at the worlds or Masters, then he won't win anything if he faces an in form Robertson/Trump/Selby etc.

It gets boring n monotonous my dear ... They can praise Ronnie all they want but they overdo it a bit. He is great but to me even Peter Ebdon is a great in his own way. I find Joe Swail to be a great as well ... I mean one gets sick of this broken ankle talk ... n genius n this n that ... the guy has exceptional talent but he is very beatable ... and has been beaten many times fair n square ... so lets keep it real ... if I have to chose a guy to bet my life on a snooker frame ... Even Steve Davis would come before Ronnie ... Higgins or Selby or even Robertson are more reliable than Ronnie ... all thi shype all the time gets to me ..... n I repeat I am a massive Ronnie fan but I respect Selby more coz he does not have half the talent of RoS ... still Selby stuffed Ronnie big time. not once .. many times ..... there were a few years ... RoS did not win a match against Higgins ... I can go on and on but I am sure u get my point
