It's ridiculous that the top 16 have to qualify at all. They've earned exemption IMO. Christ, you don't see tiger woods having to qualify for an event he's won before. No wonder Ronnie took exception previously.
I would like to see at least the top 8 players not have
to qualify as it would make the actual tournaments
more interesting for the fans and the sponsors would
no doubt like it better.
Shaun Murphy's reaction to losing to Lu Ning in the 2012 China Open will live on in my memory. He just wasn't expecting his opponent to outplay him so comprehensively. He sat in his chair, and stared at the floor. A man stunned that he was second best against a relatively unknown teenager.
It's surprising we haven't seen Lu Ning do more since. Maybe he won't do more, maybe that'll go down as the biggest moment of his career.
It'll be interesting to see the result of him and Dale. Dominic's a nice guy, always happy to see him get a run in a tournament too.
It's no surprise as many of the top players have been
beaten by young players (and not so young players)
who happen to be playing extremely well. O'Sullivan,
Robertson, Trump, Selby to name a few. It isnt great
tho for the fans who dont get to see these players in
the tournament since they dont qualify.

Got to agree with this post - not good for the sponsors if the best most popular players don't qualify or choose not to go to. World snooker have already lost a few events in Asia next year that Ding never qualified for and Ronnie did not go to.
I thought they have changed the rules or where going to on some events now have they - are they going to? A defending champion or world champion or top 16 should not have to qualify for anything IMO.
Brilliant break of 115 by Li Hang. Most of it done only with the the pink using very close ball control.
EDIT.
Well done Li Hang and back to back centuries. Walden will feel pretty sore to have lost that one. Is he experiencing a slump in form?
EDIT2:
McManus and Bingham through.
EDIT3:
Shawn looks to be playing well. Potting some nice long balls and clearing up. Joe O'Conner not really giving him a game. I think he's struggling with the speed of the table.
EDIT4:
Looks like Selt is having a nightmare today in his qualification match. Lyu Chenwei is beating him 3-0.
