Actually, it looks like they've had an injection of common sense today, so the afternoon's TV match is Murphy-Allen.

And they can't really win with tonight's choice, we already have Selby-Trump and Robertson-Maguire, with O'Sullivan-Murphy possibly to join them, so a lot of good snooker won't be televised, whatever they decide.

what!? ROS not on the TV table? shock horror!

I will also be keeping an eye on LiveScores at the Day/Burden match.
Alfie seems to be on a good run and should do better, but can say the same for Day, especially after downing Ding, he could be on a big high.
Burden has a good track record against Day with 5-2 wins over the years with Aflie winning the last three clashes. Also Day is one of Alfie's most frequent opponents. now if only that was on TV

Any idea why there wasn't a morning session today?

          Nope.

It would solve a lot of problems though, wouldn't it? The quarter-finals could then be split into two sessions, the bottom half in the afternoon and the players who are playing now in the evening, and we would get to see two instead of just one.

That was a well thought out banked yellow pot Shaun.

A 3-0 lead for Murphy then, it looks like that second frame could have been crucial in the context of this match. Murphy knocked in a red with great confidence and developed the black, and he never looked like missing after that. Allen badly needs the fourth frame.

Allen isnt playing well however being behind 3-1
doesnt mean he is out just yet.
Bingham is in a tough battle at 2-2.
Some great matchups indeed and having 1 TV table
sure makes the viewing options out. Too bad.

That was a highly enjoyable conclusion to the match, and well done to Shaun Murphy for sticking in there and coming back to win. This makes it 7 out of 7 against Allen in the major events now, so the pattern continues. But one pattern that got broken today is Murphy's performances against top16 players in ranking events this season, this being his first win.

I still can't believe how poorly Allen played towards the end of that penultimate frame. He had reds and colours on the cushions with a big lead, then actually got past snookers required, but a couple of minutes later Murphy was taking easy reds with blacks, with an easy snooker to play on the yellow. It reminded me of some of Trump's debacles from 40 in front in the UK final. I imagine this defeat will be hard to take for him.

So, Murphy has again booked himself the best seat in the house to admire O'Sullivan. Or is he actually interested in playing him this time?

The table was shockingly bad. Multiple kicks in every frame.

Yeah, as many as you are ever likely to see in one match. Allen had a really hard time before the interval, and of course he had a scoring chance early in the decider that was taken away from him through no fault of his own. Something similar happened to Ding towards the end of his match with Day as well.

Good match between Smurph and Allen this afternoon.

                              Some amazing matches coming up.
Day vs Wenbo.. Wenbo is long overdue to win.
Murphy vs O'Sullivan.. hope Murphy brings his A game.
Robertson vs Maguire.. Robertson appears out to make
up for his poor performance vs Murphy.
Trump vs Selby.. Trump has been making the finals in
some big tournaments and is due.
