  • Watching Trump v Williams and it looks like every time Williams plays a shot with power his body jerks
whereas Trump's cue action looks very smooth regardless of what power he uses.

Glad I taped it! I'm off for home right now, so some good snooker to look ahead to. Cheers.

      • Trump played a poor shot on the red and
        Williams cleared for frame 1.
Terrible miscue or kick for Williams on
        the blue.
Looks like it may be a close match.

Doesn't bother me at all, as you probably know, I think players should play on for snookers a lot more than they do.

Just to be correct though, Selby played on for 21 penalty points, which I'm sure he knew he would not get from six single snookers. He was probably thinking of getting a free ball on the last red, which meant he could have theoretically won with only two snookers.

          • Once again a game spoiled by big bounces and kicks, trump having a terrible time of it out there and its so hard to play when you have no faith in the table or balls.
Its about time World Snooker did something about this, we are seeing far too many games determined by the conditions and spoiling the event for those who want to see the best players performing to their capabilities.

Its no wonder we're seeing more shocks in this event than normal, I think Ronnie was right to have a moan about things because when you have put so much hard work into your game only for the venue and conditions to be sub standard then its no wonder some players are just playing the event like its a pro-am because its a lottery as to who is winning these games.

            • As the cloth has got thinner over the years kicks seem to have increased. When they can't even control how much the ball bounces off the cushion i don't see them being able to cure kicks anytime soon. Just adds an element of randomness to the game that can work for or against the player depending.

              • I can't believe the red didn't drop in the middle bag after Judd's swerve. Simply unbelievable.

Yeah so glad I taped it, only to find out Eurosport decided to show the cycling instead and only from a scoreline of 3-3 jumped into the Selby - Brecel match Anyway...glad to see Higgins went through to the next round.

Btw I didn't find Selby playing on for 6 snookers bad sportmanship at all. He clearly had a very good chance of putting Brecel in a very difficult snooker, so he might as well have a go at it.

Well played Brecel (to judge from the afternoon discussion in here). He might show some promise after all. And yes I agree, he probably should watch his weight...he seems to be doing an Allen

Onwards with Trump - Williams now...daffie style This one could be a cracker!!!

No other player in the world would have played on after needing 6 snookers. It's just ridiculous.

I'm trying to learn to be a fan of Selby but stunts like that don't help.

I don't think its just the cloth though, these balls are getting worse and I believe its the properties of the balls themselves that is causing the kicks and the bounces. I think they need to look into a different material to manufacture the balls now because kicks were never heard of years ago, it does seem that since the change from the super crystalates to these TC balls that the game has suffered because of it.

Perhaps quality control at aramith is a problem because during the Cope v Robertson match yesterday they both agreed to a change of balls and had the table brushed again and it virtually stopped the kicks and big bounces.

I don't even find him interesting to watch, the way he wobbles around and that daft looking utterly robotic looking cue action of his. It works for him but its so dull to watch.

                        • I really do love the way Williams floats the balls in. Such a lovely stroke. Hardly hitting the ball at all.

                          • Williams is currently ranked 16th right? This win would do him wonders. 1 more MJW!

Sadly I just don't fancy him to win these type of matches anymore, even at 3-1 up.

Well, 6 is pretty rare, but you do see it sometimes. Shaun Murphy springs to mind, I think he played on for 7 in his match against Adrian Gunnell in the 2008 Grand Prix. Trump played on for 5 against Maguire in the Masters this season.

                              • I see most of the top players are taking the lose early and get practicing ready for the World rather than wasting time at a sub standard Cardiff venue!
