  • Another big match of this couple, that has not delivered for me in some way .... I have not seen CoC final, which I suppose was the best of their meetings this season, but UK final was pretty poor and this final was at best the average quality. I am glad Judd won, as he just seems to struggle with his break-building against Sullivan (he even admited himself). I think if Bingham had not his day of on Saturday, final would have been much better ....
Looking forward to longer format matches in China and World Championship (inc. qualifiers), that is the proper length!

    • Great snooker match last night, Ronnie was not him self and didnt even carry on with just needing 2 snookers with 3 reds left!
Me and the Misses went to get a beer in the break, got back as the players were coming back out and they stopped us returning to our seats,
      What happened next......142 clearance!!!
watched it from the side tho, Class!

In other words and from everyone elses comments and thoughts he spat the dummy and gave in.
If it is called " Common sense " why is it so rare???

        • My thoughts on the final:

I think Trump played well, especially his tactical / safety play. He constantly had ROS on the ropes. ROS was not into the match at all, often couldn't be bothered, even when only needing 1 snooker. Weird outset from him, but then again he didn't seem himself during the whole week...which was especially clear to me with his continual focus on external things like the audience (photographers and otherwise) and issues with the ref (Eckhart 'getting in the way'). He didn't seem his usual composed self.

So ROS didn't really compete to any high level, but Trump made the most of it...so fair game to him. He played well and kept his focus throughout. He must be over the moon finally winning a major Final against his arch-rival. Let's just hope his head doesn't grow even bigger...

He didn't have much fight in him, no, but he didn't really do anything controversial. To answer your previous question, it was pretty quick stuff, so I would watch the whole thing, but one frame you absolutely must see is frame 3, one of the best frames of the week. Frame 14 was nice as well, and the last three were all quite tense, but don't expect high quality.

There were a few too many one-sided matches for me, but I suppose that's expected with the shorter format.
Good to see Judd winning and with some very good tactical play as well, but I do think Ronnie let him off the hook somewhat tonight. Thanks Ron.

The format wasn't great. Best of sevens get a bit dull if you watch four of them in a day. It's a pity ITV don't get any proper tournaments, as their commentators are superior to those employed by the BBC. (Except for maybe Hendry, who I quite like.)

Jill Douglas has come under some criticism, but I feel she is at least trying her best. She seems to have been dropped into it by a channel who doesn't have any proper snooker presenters. She, at least, annoys me less than Colin Murray and his unfunny Wenbo Selecta gags.

But overall, a top effort from ITV 4.

I noticed Ronnie's body movement too GeordieDS. He was doing this in the final session of the 2014 World Final but it was even worse in this final against Judd.

                  • So what was the best match of the tournament? Trump Williams? Davis Robertson? Dott Higgins? Ebdon Murphy? Williams Day and Williams Walden might have been good but I don't think they were shown.

                    • Hard to tell when most of them are best of sevens. They rarely live long in the memory.

I nocited this as well. ROS didn't seem as steady as he normally is, on the shot as well as around the table. He seemed like he was in deep thoughts...never really in the moment. Difficult to explain really, by definately something weird going on with the man.

                          • Exactly! Like I said a couple of times before, Trump has played very well and consistent throughout the match and deserved to win the Final.

What do you mean by his head grow even bigger? He comes across very shy to me
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

                              • Trump is certainly improving his game especially in
the mental/emotional side which is great to see him
continue to mature. He is after all still young. His
attacking style is still there however his safety and
tactical game is improving a lot.
