Yes. He's been a bit lucky really. Not leaving much on when he misses etc...

    • A big fist pump by Selt. Clearly it meant a lot to him.

      A good solid win

Glad to see Jimmy won. He's going to have to play well against Selt. He's becoming a very good player.

Tomorrow looks like much better matches than
today. Its getting more interesting each day.

                    • Michael White is in deep trouble, down 7-2 to Craig Steadman.....Have to feel for the Welshman, now #16 in the world but victim of the Carter freeze. I really don't like this format....

If Carter would have played all season and earned his money like normal, White wouldn't have been in the top 16 anyway. So he hasn't really lost much.

He's only top 16 by the skin of his teeth though and I'd much rather see World snooker freeze Carter's ranking than give a free pass to a player who has only played well for a few weeks that earned him enough to squeeze into the top 16.

Fact is this new format is as fair as it can be to all qualifiers. If White was good enough to be at the crucible he wouldn't be trailing Steadman 7-2 in the first place. The warning signs were there about White's form in the first round when he almost lost to an amateur.

                          • I don't understand what's going on with White - when he was actually at the Crucible the other year, he looked so assured and relaxed around the table, it was fantastic to watch. Now he's struggling to beat journeyman pros and also-rans.

                            • Apart from michael white, you could put the top 16 into these qualifiers and tell them they have to win 3 matches, and i can assure you there would be upsets.
Any player is capable of beating any player in a qualifying match thats not on terrestrial television.
