Fact is this new format is as fair as it can be to all qualifiers. If White was good enough to be at the crucible he wouldn't be trailing Steadman 7-2 in the first place. The warning signs were there about White's form in the first round when he almost lost to an amateur.Ton Praram III Series 1 | 58" 18.4oz 9.4mm | ash shaft + 4 splices of Brazilian Rosewood | Grand Cue medium tips

Nice to see Dott win and he had a fairly easy match.
Hopefully White vs Selt will be shown as well as
Dale vs Swail and Davis vs Maflin.
I would have prefered the qualifiers to be best of 15
or so as many matches have taken a long time to play.

However, the first-round qualifiers this year have gone overwhelmingly with the seeds, so in fact this second round is probably not a lot different from how the final round would have looked under the old system. So White can moan all he likes (not that he has done, as far as I know - although Matt Selt has apparently been going a bit wayward on Twitter this evening) but if he couldn't beat Steadman today, there's nothing to say he would have beaten a Steadman or similar under the old scheduling in the final round. (In fact, it may have been more difficult in that he would have been going in cold, while his opponent would already have been playing.)
The one thing this system does do is protect the top-16 even more above all the others, but apart from that, there can be nothing fairer than everyone starting in the same round.

just got back home at 1:35 after watching some of the 2nd round qualifiers , finally Igor Figueiredo got through, the match finished around 1:15am what a slow boring match it was. Rod Lawler is the one of the slowest players i have ever seen.
he takes forever to make a decision and more times than not ends up missing , he got away with so much of the ball run as well, Igor got frustrated, after leading 8-2 and 9-5 he just couldn't get over the line , in the 18th frame there was a re spotted black which Lawler nicked it to claw his way back and take it to a decider.
the final frame almost took an hour but eventually Igor came through, a match he would want to forget i presume. if he wins one more round it could be his first visit to the cruicibleLast edited by alabadi; 13 April 2015, 12:50 AM.

Well done for sticking with it pal.
Odds on that would been nice at the right time.
Is the only way to view these games via a stream the official site?
the Figueiredo match was one of the last ones there, i see him quite a lot at the Sheffield Snooker Academy which i go to, so i was interested to see how he got on
