Not surprised, it was very quick! I think the red went in, Jimmy came forward for the handshake, and the referee removed her gloved without having had chance to put it up!

        • Dott, Doherty and Hull would be nice to see
advance as well as Wenbo, Hang and Guodong.

that's true but I think the odds overestimate that. Ronnie is more likely to win it I agree but Higgins has disappeared into the wilderness a few times in his career and won it 4*! he played well in china, beating judd and almost beating ding. we'll see - I am not a betting man but I would like to short Ronnie at this price and buy Higgo!

And deluded Jimmy White does! I think people need to lose the nostalgic view of the likes of White and Davis and accept that the game and overall standard is far higher now and even though they've been legends of the game, I'd rather them both accept they are finished so fans stop getting their hopes up or that they deserve a free passage to the crucible each year, just for old times sake.

White is a bottler and this was a typical bottle job from him. 7-2 up and losing 10-8, like that has never happened to him before.

I read through those comments but when you see 3 players have hit 140 and there have been at least 3 attempts at maximum breaks, I don't think conditions are that bad. 66 centuries made so far, that is very high if anything.

I was speaking to a fitter who does some work for WS and knows the fitters who do most the events and he said that the players are never satisfied and never will be.
In his words, they are looking for perfection but a table can never be perfect. Atmospherics are the biggest cause of bad table conditions and that cannot be helped no matter how they set the tables up.

Like many of the fitters, he started about 30 years ago and got to know and see lots of changes down the years and the biggest change is how players now demand perfect tables whereas in the past tables weren't uniform like they are today. A player of the past would first of all play certain shots to get a feel for the table, find out if a cushion was bouncing square or if there was a roll and then make a mental note of what shot you can or can't play and adapt to it.

Today the players are idiots. They know a table might be playing a bit slow or that it may roll off slightly yet they continue to play the same game and wonder why they are missing. They don't know how to adapt and instead just moan when they have lost. Fact is the conditions are the same for both players, the player who learns to adapt deserves to win, also conditions have never been better, I'd love to see some of these guys play on a club table now, spoilt springs to mind.

It's just the way some fans think. Same with Alex Higgins when he was almost finished, he would turn up play crap yet he was there that just made good viewing in whole. Turning on the world championships at the end of the month and see Matthew selt playing in truth is a recipe to turn the box off. Harsh but true.

                      • So Adam Duffy is supposed to play his EBSA play-off match at 11 am, while he is also supposed to play first session of his qualifing match to the Crucible. I am not sure which one he will pick

Well Luca is out, which I really regret, now I hope Stevens, McGill, Doherty, Holt, McManus will make it through.

well it is being held at the same hall so he could run between the two tables, play a shot and run back....
I am sure Christopher Keogan will have a W/O
                          Up the TSF! :snooker:

                          • Doesn't the ebsa playoff hold a main tour place though for the winner? Duffy is not guaranteed a main tour spot next season if he withdraws and although the opportunity of appearing at the crucible and £12000 is a nice pay day, it won't count for much if he's not on the MT next season

                            • EBSA Play Off matches may be re-scheduled subject to results of players in the World Championship Qualifiers.

                              • Ah shame .... I thought he might try to play his EBSA play off match, he would only be 0-9 down after first session in his WSC qualifing match, so he might have tried win the second session 10-0 :-).
