truth be told, despite the brilliance shown by Hawk ... Neil did get his chance in the decider and when the moment of truth arrived he backed off ..... so much for best long potter in the world .... deserted him when it mattered primarily because he lacked courage .. still must be hard to take .... this win would have taken so much out of Barry that I doubt he will show up in the semis. Trump must be giggling all the way.
You think? He usually crumbles from what I've seen in the past, hence my comment.
Still, fair play - Neil can have no gripes about that.
Well he certainly was today. But also as far as I can remember he has done well in the WC...2 finals and a Semi (now 2) if I remember correctly hearing Neil Foulds say earlier?
Hawkins and Bingham both played great and deserved to win but think it's bad news for the tournament. Two very one-sided semi finals on the cards now. It's a shame because Murphy-Robertson-Trump-Ronnie could have been spectacular.
could easily be a Hawkins Bingham final ... and I wont mind either of them winning .... will surely have earned it. Selby must be kicking himself for going out so early

Not a chance!! They'll both roll over in the semis. Trump's title now for sure.
Don't know how you can be so sure - to beat Ronnie and Neil they both had to play really well, can't write either of them off yet!
I'm not disputing how well they played, I just don't see either of them reaching anything like that level again. Hawkins will probably never play that well again in his life!
Hope I'm wrong though, would like to see Barry win it now but I just don't see it.
The semi-final line-up doesn't look as impressive as the quarter-final line-up did, with the defeats of O'Sullivan and Robertson, but there is no doubt all four semi-finalists have earned their place this year.
Hawkins-Robertson was one of the best quarter-finals I have ever seen in the World Championship, eight centuries in total, four by each player, and a couple of 90s as well. It doesn't get much better than that. It must be disappointing for Robertson, he didn't do much wrong last year when he lost to Selby, and he played really well for the most part this year as well, but he just needed to take one of those chances in the decider. His record in deciders is quite poor this season, I can't be bothered to count them again, but I think he's lost something like 7 of the last 10 in the major events. Well played to Hawkins, with another performance like this one he has every chance against Murphy as well.
The other match was less exciting, but Bingham's breakbuilding in the last five frames was excellent, while O'Sullivan couldn't really put much together. Both players missed quite a few shots from short range throughout the match, so Bingham really needs to cut that out, because Trump is in the mood to punish mistakes heavily. It should be a fast and entertaining game.
I have to say the standard of breakbuilding has been excellent in this tournament. Trump, Murphy and Hawkins are just making century after century, and so was Robertson before he went out. And it's not as if the tables are overly generous either. The standard was a little weaker in recent years, so I suppose we were due a high-quality World Championship.
