What a great match. I've wondered why Hawkins is in the top 8 but now I'm beginning to see why.

Nice match, breaks flying in in all three sessions. Obviously the key frame was the last one of the 2nd session, when Hawkins got the snooker he needed. It would probably have been a very different game at 10-6 instead of 9-7. :smile:

A good evening's snooker. It was a great result for Barry, and 5 - 3 isn't so bad for Matthew, there's still hope of the 'miracle' I must remember to say my prayers before bed tonight. :angel:

Hawkins can certainly play well but I wasnt
expecting him to win. Well done. Allen seems
to always look untidy and tired.

not a miracle. Stevens plays great and is relaxed. Has every chance to win.

well done Hawkins from 8-11 behind he wins 5 in a row , awesome player. his safety is great. all round game is solid, usually does well in the longer matches so we might see him go a long way again.

why didn't Matthew Stevens have a butt joint installed on his cue is something I am curious about.
Perhaps an artisan like Trevor who was the last to re-splice his cue will have an answer..

He has had that cue since he was a teenager , obviously very used to it and he seems very comfortable playing with the extension added to it .
