Snooker could certainly use some new exciting players
and Q School is one way to enter the tour. Are wild cards
the only other way to play in a tournament?

there are lots of ways to get a tour card ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_S...rrent_criteria

and then each main tournament can have wild cards decided by the hosts/sponsors ... and then absolutely anyone at all can enter PTC's if they pay the entry fee (was £100 per event, not sure if it's still the same) ...

No, I think you can get a tour card by other means, winning big tournaments that amateurs can enter, but you have to beat the pros I think, the tournaments on the Euro tour and the Asian tour can illicit tour cards I believe. Maybe Neil can tell us the details.

I believe she plays 3 more matches and if she wins
them all she gets a card.

she's struggling today against Ashley Hugill, 3-0 down. Hugill has done well this year he's only lost 1 frame so far in the 3 matches hes played in.

he's a resident at the Star Snooker Academy in Sheffield, where Nico Elton, Oliver Brown, Chris Keogan and Lukas Kleckers are based.

Unfortunately she lost however she is playing in
Qualifier #2 so she still has a chance left.

What a great comeback by Leo Fernandez from 3 nil down to beat Oliver Brown .

These lads must be under immense pressure .

I don't want this to sound all quotas and stuff, but as a long time Ladies WC, surely she should get a tour card for winning that title no? Folk get cards for minor events in Europe and Asia so I see no reason why she shouldn't get a card. If nothing else, to promote the game amongst women.

Wait for it................................................ ................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! lol

I would like to see her get a pro card and maybe a decent sponsor , so that she could put in more time at the practice table . Would be very interesting to see how good she could really get with far more match play as well .

Does anyone know if any of the players are seen as
likely candidates to make the grade and become
                            possible future players to watch?
I think Adam Duffy is the guy that beat out Martin Gould from attending world Chmapionship, seems like he was playing lights out but did not make it to the Worlds, must be a hot or cold player. I got a feeling he is going to do welll...
I try hard, play hard and dont always succeed, at first.!!!!:snooker:

Here is the latest info from the World Snooker website.

Alexander Ursenbacher moved into the final round of Q School event one on Monday night with a 4-3 win over China’s Zhao Xintong.

Ursenbacher became Switzerland’s only professional when he came through Q School in 2013 and the 19-year-old showed signs of promise in his first two years, though he dropped off the tour at the end of last season.

He now has the chance to bounce straight back thanks to an impressive win over Zhao which included breaks of 72, 75 and 57. In the final round on Tuesday, Ursenbacher will face Welshman Daniel Wells, who edged out Luke Simmonds 4-3.

Sheffield’s Adam Duffy moved closer to a return to the pro tour by beating Andy Hicks 4-0. He now meets Scotland’s Eden Sharav, a 4-1 winner over Callum Downing.

Veteran Leo Fernandez, who last played on the tour in 2008, edged out Alex Davies 4-3 to earn a meeting with Rhys Clark, who made a 130 in a 4-0 win over Shachar Ruberg.

China’s Chen Zhe beat Ashley Hugill 4-2 and will now face Sydney Wilson, a 4-1 winner over Ross Higgins.

The four winners on Tuesday each receive a two-year World Snooker Tour card.
