Great final. I wanted to Martin to win it, but the clearance in the decider by Higgins was superb. So long pause ahead of now, I dont like it.

Wouldn't be surprised if he had a better average than most of the other big winners.
Done a quick calc from CueTracker for the top Ranking tournament winners and their ratio of Winner to RunnerUp

I think the information is not correct, as the 27th title of John Higgins is not calculated :-)

Wonder how many more Higgins can win? Or O'Sullivan for that matter. The back end of Hendry's career was very poor, when he was struggling with whatever issues, mental or otherwise, plagued his game. If this hadn't been the case, and he had been able to adopt more of a Higgin's like approach, I think he could have added another five ranking titles to that 36 total.

glad I got up early to catch all of it.
My thoughts exactly. For some reason I thought the first session started a little earlier, so I stayed up in the hope of catching it live, then realized my mistake and ended up only sleeping four hours before getting up again to watch it. It was worth it though, an enjoyable session of snooker. I was thinking it would be a similar story to the Welsh Open final after Higgins went 2-0 up, but in the end he had to fight hard to even get a 4-4 from the first session.

Well done to Gould for not cracking in the evening, and also well done to Higgins for another trademark big break in the decider. An enjoyable tournament all in all, with proper matches and a good standard, I only wish the time zone was a little more favourable.

So Higgins is 40 and O'Sullivan will turn 40 in december, can't really see why they can't win ranking events at 50,here's hoping they do just to put the 'young mans game' guff to bed, don't really know where that came from when thinking of John Spencer and Reardon etc.
Oops I forgot,'young mans game guff to bed' and 'don't really know where that came from',silly me I'm talking about the media.

A great final with both players winning their share
of frames with some great snooker. A close and
hard fought match which could have gone either
way. Well done to Higgins and Gould.

That looked like a decent final that Eurosport didn't show. Was going to watch the highlights, but by 5pm I'd got impatient and looked up who won. So didn't bother.

In January, I wouldn't have thought John Higgins had two more ranking wins in him.
