  • Likes a bit of a tipple then does Mr Allen, I remember him saying to Hazel a couple of years ago he was really going to concentrate on losing some weight, looks like that has gone out of the window.

    • I take it Selt's missed black on 59 (9th frame) was a kick, yes?

      The fast and the furious,
      The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

      • Whoever gave Ronnie Wood the green light to come onto Eurosport for the night needs shot. What a cringworthy show that was. He doesn't know if he's sitting down for a **** or a haircut and they have him on trying to talk about snooker. He will not be asked back in a hurry i can tell you that!

        • Selt seemed to be in a really negative frame of mind in the last two frames, dwelling on every little thing that went wrong for him. I was starting to get the feeling he would lose 6-5 in the end.

Good win for Fu against Murphy, same stage as last year, but slightly less dramatic this time. He played alright, but obviously there is room for improvement, and he might need to raise his game at the business end of the tournament.

I didn't pay much attention the last two frames as I was watching Murphy at that point but I was impressed with how Selt managed to get through as he won those 4 frames on the spin but it wasn't easy at all, had to pull all sort of 'tricks' to keep the breaks and frames going, very difficut rest shots, plenty of snookers and that took the toll on Luca eventually, some kicks, all of that while he was way behind. The balls he potted to clinch the frames? oh dear they were all high risk shots. Remarkable performance.
Brecel's extremely low long pot success cost him big time as he looked very confident once he got the breaks going.
Gutted for Murphy, looked like he was having a walk in the park and I stopped following to focus on the other match and Fu once again beat him

Fully agree with this. He is an idiot. It was properly terrible.

Why not? Makes a change to see a couple of non-household names from time to time ....

True...but for me personally the better match-up was Fu - Murphy. I watched it on Eurosportplayer though...

                    • I am really disappointed with the outcome of Brecel vs Selt match.
Before MSI, Luca was playing pretty good standart, after it, he just could not get going. His long potting was well-off and luck was not his friend whole match. Such a shame .... I am was not big fan of Matt Selt before, after watching him play yesterday, nothing has changed for me.

The second match was pretty high standart for the most of the parts of the match, well done Marco Fu, it takes usually great performance to knock Shaun Murphy out these days.

As for today, I will go with Maguire, Higgins, Wembo and Gould.

I had this feeling about Selt too. But Brecel made to many mistakes on his own. Don't see Selt winning much against Selby.

The other match was pretty good. I thought it was not the right decision, when Murphy wanted Fu to play on after that foul in the fourth (?) frame. Bitter to lose a frame in such a fashion.
Fu was the more solid player and I again felt that Murphy was a little bit to aggressive.

                        • Brecel amazes me at times with his seemingly careless attitude to some of his shots.

Yup same here...have never been able to warm to him myself. He seems far too casual and even careless at times. In any case far too much for me personally and I will never watch a match with him in it if I can help it. Too bad really...because the talent is there.

Why doesnt he learn though, or why doesnt his coach, people close to him drill it into his head!!
He has been like that for a while.
Like you said, he has got some talent but its like he is playing his mates down at the club sometimes haha.

I didn't think Brecel would beat Vafaei Ayouri and Anthony McGill doesn't seem to be as good as when he beat Selby at the Crucible, also Selt was never going to be easy when 20k ranking points/pounds were the prize.
                                It's a tough school.
