He has been like that for a while.
Like you said, he has got some talent but its like he is playing his mates down at the club sometimes haha.
Yeah agree completely with you. Either he has completely wrong coaching or Brecel just doesn't want to step it up a gear (or two). Either way it's completely the wrong way to go about being a professional snooker player imo. Personally I don't like his smirk neither...happens too often for my taste. Like he is embarassed after missing a pot and tries to smirk his way out of trouble...it won't do I'm afraid.

Anyway...today's matches should be good value, I feel.

Ha, yes indeed, the smirk good call on that one.
I could be wrong but its his whole attitude towards the game, its like he is trying too much to be a flair player.

Yes I'm looking forward to todays matches too.

      • The match I'm most looking forward to today is Robertson-Maguire. A few years ago they would have been considered a part of the big4 of their generation, along with Selby and Murphy, but Maguire kind of dropped out of that group in recent times, failing to add any really big title to his 2004 UK win. These four players have never developed the kind of rivalries they could have, apart from Murphy-Maguire, which was more personal than competitive. But on the table itself, I think Robertson and Maguire have had the best rivalry, meeting in a lot of memorable and high-quality matches over the years. The one that stands out the most is probably the QF of the 2009 Masters, where they finished the match with five successive centuries between them, Maguire winning 6-3. Maguire also played a ridiculous session of snooker against Robertson in the 2nd round of the 2008 World Championship, where he won all eight frames, with the kind of scoring performance you sometimes see from O'Sullivan when he is really on form. I would also mention their SF in the 2013 China Open, which was one of my favourite matches of the entire season, high quality and great drama in the end, with Robertson winning 6-5.

Maguire may not be the player he once was, but one thing he is still really good at is dominating matches where the head-to-head is in his favour. He hasn't played snooker to the same standard as Judd Trump has in recent years, for example, but he still seems to beat him almost every time they play. He's always had a strong record against Robertson, and he's won their last two big matches as well, so I'm sure he will fancy his chances this afternoon. It's just a question whether he has the form at the moment... He scored really well against Davis in the previous round. He led 4-1, then didn't pot a ball in the next three frames, but he composed himself and won the last two frames comfortably. On the other hand, Robertson had that really slow start against Mehta, but then found his scoring form and carried it over to the match with Un-Nooh as well. If both players play their best, this could be a really good match. Robertson has to start as a slight favourite, but for some reason I have the feeling this match could go the other way.

Should be a good one although it depends on which Maguire turns up. For me, he's one of the biggest underachievers in the game which is mainly down to his temperament (i think)!

The guy sitting next to that person doesn't look all too comfortable either...he is constantly leaning all the way to his right

But enough with the jokes about different-minded folks...to each his/her own I say.

Hard one to call, but I'd had to go with Robertson unfortunately.

                • Good to have two legends of snooker Jimmy and Ronnie in the Eurosport studio. A breath of fresh air for the commentating side of the game, but I'm not sure about the kissing part of it Mr White?

That's why I said I am *rooting* for Mags to come through. I know it will most probably be Robbo though. Hoping for a good match either way...

Could he be a sly lover - the one leaning to the right ?
As you say though... each to their own - fair comment.

                      Good luck to Maguire too.

                      • Rooting for Mags, as usual!

Btw, is Maguire using a new cue? I know he swaped his old 1 pc maple GBL for some 3/4 Ash but now I can see him with a 3/4 with maple shaft again...Made by Exquisite??

                              • Robbo out for ages after just one frame, which coincidentally he lost. This is why we need the new toilet break rule.
