He really seems to struggle with concentration. He's all over the shop now!

He's started potting like Selby last night.

I don't think its concentration, I think he lacks determination and bottle all too often and struggles when his opponents start to come back at him.

This match reminds me of the Bingham match at the crucible. Trump was always ahead until the final session and then Bingham got stronger and Trump just wilted under the pressure. Liang has raised his game and showing bottle under pressure and Trump senses his man is strong and can't seem to counter it.

Trump as a junior was far better than the player of now. For me he has worked too hard on his tactics and safety but is lacking the killer instinct in the balls now. He seems at a crossroads like Murphy a few seasons back where he doesn't seem to know how or what to do at certain stages of a match. He really needs to get someone working in his corner to harness his ability because right now he is not winning enough for the talent his possesses.

Nope Only the Robertson vs Un-Noon match and the Judd vs Liang match.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
              I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Good assessment that cueman. Can't argue with that at all. I think you're right!

I watch him now and think he's in his prime but not lifting the big ones and it's tragic because he should be doing so much better. He needs to overhaul his game and he needs a good mentor for that. He can pot everything and make breaks so all he needs to do is start thinking about the pros and cons more and play the percentage game. Stop thinking every shot needs to pot a ball and start thinking about putting pressure on the opponent more and bide your time.

I didn't think so. Oh well, thanks anyway.

                          • Agreed. I watched him in the first game and he looked really poor. I remember a comment he made about how he got really nervous and it does seem to be the case; For all his potting ability he misses easy balls that the other top 16 players would never miss.

I don't really play much snooker (not good enough) but play a lot of pool and have a similar problem. I can pot something brilliant followed by missing something straight forward down to nerves and Judd's red a couple games ago and missing the easy black after reminded me of that!

                            • That was a twitchy frame. It was nice of Trump to give that green away.

                              • Congratulations to Wenbo. The last frame was tense, but the standard was close to my best performances ;-)
