I thought it was quite enjoyable as well, but my mother watched the match with me and protested loudly when Johnson said "what a great match this has been". I guess you can't please everyone.
O'Sullivan certainly had some luck at important times this afternoon. A fluke directly won him the second frame, and Williams was left with no shot after that great black when he had the chance to make it 5-3. The plant was ill-advised, but sometimes you just can't help yourself. I don't play snooker myself, except in video games, where I just have to go for a plant when I think it's on, so I can definitely relate. But then again, Williams plays snooker for a living, so perhaps he should be more calculating.
Should be a good match tonight as well.

MJW has always favoured attacking snooker and good safety. He was the potter in his day don't forget so a plant is hardly something outrageously big for his talent.
But the top dog does it again. Daddeooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Glad he didn't cruise it, he'll have to get on the practice table now and turn up the heat. Cuz he will win nowt at that level. He needs to find a couple more gears. But he's through and that's what counts. 5-5-5; believe!

Did you think it was on?
-The fast and the furious,
The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

On top of which, the consequences of missing it were, well, disastrous. But of course hindsight is a wonderful thing after the fact.

Don't forget in his mind are the pockets, even if the plant isn't plumb, will the pockets take the ball in off the knuckle? The right answer in his mind is yes because he hit a red along the rail that glanced the black rail half way along and still went in! Steve Davis said in commentary that the pockets are really big. MJW can see this plain as day so maybe thought it would it drop? Even if a plant isn't plumb, you can squeeze the balls and make one drop. It's really how he saw it which I hope we find out from interviews.

Tonight at 7.30pm, Selby v. Tricky Ricky.
Not sure who to support here. Should be a close match. Selby has to be favourite but on his day, Tricky Ricky can take you to the cleaners with his unorthodox stance and technique. He don't hang about!
Big contrast in styles, Robot v. Human.
Ok............... c'mon Tricky Ricky!Last edited by barrywhite; 12 January 2016, 05:40 PM.

It's strange at how good a match MJW v Ronnie was, even though the quality big breaks weren't thick and fast and it did go scrappy quite often. But Ronnie's potting throughout was insanely good at times and considering he wasn't playing fantastic still got a 60 and 2 centuries, and but for the miscue in frame 3, could of been one of the best clearances he's done.
MJW obviously played his part, but the amount of plants hes attempted and missed against Ronnie is quite a lot, i think there was 2 last time they played in the Worlds that cost him 2 frames, and I think he missed 2 today. Hopefully it wont be Selby against Ronnie, but if it is, he will have play better, although other than the fluked green in frame 2, he had horrendous luck, almost as bad as Maguire's luck against Trump.
