For me, Judd needs to go up a level as well cuz Robbo is the man of the season so far, he's on fire and his confidence is sky high. He knows he's playing the game as well as it can be played, so the inconsistent ropey Judd better not turn up; England expects! I fancy Higgins to win today, ballrun ain't on the money this championship. He had that ton but Ding was awful that day.

@Stormwatch, Selby had plenty of time to sort his tie out in his seat and at the MSI. Jeez.
Up until Robertson won the UK , he hadn't done much this season compared to last and his fantastic 100+ breaks. Trump hasn't made the impact that most folk thought and I don't know if he'll go on and dominate snooker in any way. As for Ding, well, what's going on with that guy these days?

Ding has the Ronnies as I call them now. If you lose, you go into a vicious circle and get depressed but I think he's just unhappy with snooker full stop. Allen had a bad period in 2011, google depression+Allen. I like Allen, glad he's back and happier in life with his wife. It's a psychological game and when it goes wrong, it can do a lot of damage to your psyche. I hope Ding comes back strong, snooker needs him as a poster boy for the worldwide game.

Ronnie is to the UK snooker audience what Ding is to China and the game needs the two facets to work in order to keep it in a healthy place.

I'm sure Mr Hearn wants tehm to perform well and to keep these two sweet in order to help boost his own profile.

Like you said though Ding is in a bad place at the moment, I wonder what the Chinese media think of it all ?

              I'm having 6 - 3 to Robertson, 6 - 4 to Higgins.

I think its the Chinese media that has caused Ding to be like he is.

All the pressure on him as they expect him to win a world title and to me he looks burned out from playing snooker solidly from a very young age without any break whatsoever.

I feel for him because you can see he's not happy playing. Snooker has become a chore to him and I think if he could pack it in he would. When you see Liang playing its night and day between the two. Liang is positive, he looks happy, interacts with the crowd etc, he is now playing his best stuff and is now the best player in China IMO. Perhaps this is what Ding needs, to no longer be carrying the burden of the top Chinese player and maybe when the pressure is off, he'll start to enjoy the game and get back to his best.

You know what, you could be onto something there.
If I remember correctly he came over when he was 15 ?
Yes the pressure could be too much, expectations, constant media coverage etc.

                      Good post mate.

                        Close. I'm having 6 - 4 to Robertson and 6 -3 to Higgins.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                        I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

You mean 6-0 against Walden? That was class. Still, even after this match ROS talks about how his positional game was a bit out and he played some poor shots.

I'll need to take a quick language course in Mandarin and get back to you about Ding

They two scores sound about right.
