I've seen loads of push shots this Masters but the refs won't call them. When you're that close to the ball on and you stroke through the cue ball, there is lots of contact time and no way you won't be touching the cue ball when it contacts the ball on. Refs are scared to call them. Not sure why, probably the same reason they let the players go to the toilet every 15 minutes. No balls.

Very hard to call , would like to see a slow mo of it . But the balls were close together .

Today wasn't as bad as I had feared. The afternoon match in particular was very good, with Hawkins proving some people wrong and repeating the kind of performance he produced against Robertson in the WC. He is one of the best players in the world not to have won one of the big three events yet, up there with Mark Allen and Marco Fu perhaps, and tomorrow is a great chance for him. It won't be easy though. :smile:

The evening match wasn't the best, Bingham just missed a few too many in the end, as I expected. O'Sullivan seemed to be doing alright for most of the match, so I was a little surprised he got so frustrated. He had a couple of flukes at the right time, and Bingham had an untimely kick or two, so it could have been a little closer, but O'Sullivan has always been good at making potentially close matches into one-sided ones. I would expect him to win tomorrow, but a Hawkins win wouldn't be a huge shock from what we've seen over the last couple of days.

As has been mentioned, the Masters used to be known for close finals, but the last six years have been very one-sided, 10-6 being the closest final scoreline in this period. So I think we are due a close final. :smile:

Does anyone agree , Barry Hawkins match winning blue was a push shot I know the ref couldnt really call it , but Im pretty sure it was ?

think the only person that knows whether it was or not is barry. certainly no way we could tell from the one camera angle we were given

Do you mean expressing frustration in his form in the BBC interview or frustration on the table ?
If its frustration on the table I didn't see much of that really,he missed a few and pulled a few faces but hardly worth mentioning really.

I meant frustration on the table, I haven't seen the interview. I suppose the climax was when he banged his cue on the floor after a bad shot at 5-1. It reminded me a little of Maguire's behaviour against Hendry in the 2012 WC, when he was about 10 frames ahead and still wasn't satisfied with how he was playing. :smile:

Bingham is one of those weird players who somehow manages to stop you playing your best, especially over the last couple years. It somehow becomes scrappy. I think Ronnie trump and Murphy would all tell you they just couldn't play their natural game at the we last year. Higgins inexplicably played a terrible game against bingo and Ronnie today looked well below par as well. Over a longer game Ronnie would have lost today for sure.

He'll be there or thereabouts at this years.
