Suggesting it's much ado about nothing is stirring?

I'll do as you suggest and put you on ignore. That way I am no longer stirring you up.

Other than Trumps match against Robbo and parts of Higgins vs Liang, I think the BBC have done a good job in fooling the viewers the standard has been so high. Ronnie admitted last night that its a generous table and its easy to score heavily on so why have so many players missed so many balls and been so inconsistent! What we've seen mostly all event is one sided matches mostly and that is worrying. This is supposed to be the best 16 players in the world yet we have so many out of form and inconsistent players its a joke to call them the elite.

We have a world champ who has only managed 1 semi final and that was at the start of the season. A world no.1 who has only managed a couple of semi finals this season. Ding Junhui, Ricky Walden and Marco Fu completely and utter waste of time having them here, though Fu admittedly wasn't feeling well. All the other players played well one match then were average the next and subsequently lost. For players who have played a lot of tournaments and should all be sharp that is not good enough IMO. I've seen higher standard from all back in the 90's and early 2000's when the standard of the top 16 was worthy of being called an elite. I'm not deluded by the BBC commentary that this has been a great event. Much like the UK champs, this has been a bit of a let down and I think the Masters has lost a bit of credibility when we are seeing so many one sided matches the last couple of years.

They keep saying the strength in depth in snooker is stronger than its ever been and there is some truth in that but I think there is also a decline in the top 16. I've never known such a weak top 16 that have won so few between them apart from the likes of Ronnie, Higgins and Williams and all of those are past their best at 40. It maybe harder to dominate now but consider this. The likes of Ebdon, Doherty and White won more ranking titles than Selby or Murphy who are considered better players and won in an era when Higgins, Williams, Hendry and O'Sullivan amongst others were at their peak! I know which era would have been harder to win in so it proves that todays top players aren't really all they are made out to be.
i really dont see the connection with Ronnie. He played against the best players. It wasnt his fault they are not in form. Lets make a tournament in which Ronnie must play against all players in top 32. Maybe someone will beat him and many of you will be happy.
If it played against Ding or Trump or Robbo and won someone surely would have commented that it was easy for him and Selby Bingaham and Williams were better opponents.
Lets be honest...Ronnie is the best of them all like it or not. It doesnt matter if the other players are very strong or very weak. Ronnie is the best of them all.
"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

I was at the Higgins vs Trump Crucible Final. That was as good at atmosphere I ever attended. It's one of my favourite memories.

                I believe that!

Before I take the 'long dirt-nap', maybe once I will cross the channel and attend a Final myself. Have wanted to do it for a long time now. Still on the couch atm though

The Crucible has the best atmosphere of any sporting event I've ever attended. Costs the most though.

Just hunger I guess. Sometimes you have to knuckle down to win when things aren't pretty but to do that you have to have a hunger for the win and commit to things you don't normally enjoy doing to get the result.

Not saying ROS is definitely like this but when I used to play football there were those games where you had to roll your sleeves up in the rain and mud and tough it out (god I miss those sort of games), lots of the flair players would go off feigning a bullet wound as they didn't have the stomach for the trenches.

I love his cueing and shot making but I also love Selbys resolve and his ability to make the result his when everything says it's not going to happen.

                    Just my opinion....

                    • This is almost as bad as the black ball final...

Also those shouty people in the audience are getting quite annoying.

Yes I believe I would try and attend a Crucible final as it is the most intimate atmosphere of all arena's I would think. Plus all the incredible memories of watching all these years, The Crucible should be the one. If I make the choice to go then cost wouldn't be a factor...it would be a once in a lifetime thing, or who knows maybe it could become a once a year thing

Anyway...strange scrappy frame this...but then again that's how I like em
