So we come to the golden oldies or grand masters or whatever you want to call it but hang on a minute, there's plenty of players from the main tour entering as Gav Powell has pointed out. Is this right? Personally, I think with the improved fitness, practice and match sharpness from more comps being available, that players will now go long into their forties. Having fit tour players like MJW in this tournament devalues what it's about. Logically, this suggests the golden oldies should be +50. Should they even be on the tour as well? Discuss!
I'll be rooting for Dale, one the nicest blokes on tour and what a cue collection he has. To see MJW in this comp is strange, Ronnie and Higgins certainly wouldn't enter.
Here's the Schedule:
January 30th
From 1pm
Peter Ebdon v Nigel Bond
Mark Williams v Anthony Hamilton
Tony Drago v Robert Milkins
Joe Johnson v Darren Morgan
From 7pm
Ken Doherty v Mark Davis
John Parrott v Dominic Dale
Rory McLeod v Fergal O’Brien
Jimmy White v Gary Lees
Odds on these old donkeys to win the title:
Mark J. Williams 5/2,
Mark Davis 11/2
Robert Milkins 6/1
Peter Ebdon 15/2
10/1 Dominic Dale, Fergal O'Brien
16/1 Anthony Hamilton, Ken Doherty, Nigel Bond 16/1 Rory McLeod
Darren Morgan 20/1
Jimmy White 25/1
John Parrott 50/1
Tony Drago 66/1
100/1 Gary Lees, Joe Johnson
